I'm actually surprised that it doesn't cost hundreds, unlike most recent lifetime sub offers.

Well, for a freemium game 30 bucks all at once is a rather good chunk of cash.

That is because Free Realms only costs 4.99 a month. 3.30 a month if you buy a years subscription. Most games cost hundreds of dollars for a lifetime subscription because their monthly fee is higher and because they charge you at least 1-2 years worth of a subscription.

This is a good move on FreeRealms' part. This will bring in some money for them from people who didn't feel it was worth $5 for the member items, which was slowly becoming more and more a large percentage of the game.

Great game and that's a good deal.

If you like light-hearted, casual gameplay there's quite a bit of content available.

Just be aware most of the folks you'll be playing with are 8 years old.

At least in this MMO, the players who act 8 will actually BE 8. XD

And yes, this is a fantastic deal.

That's a good deal, but the fact they are going to lifetime memberships makes me believe there may never be any new content in the future, as they seem to only be concentrating on daily events and the cash shop, and nothing more, so a monthly membership no longer makes sense.

That is a real worry, sadly. -_-

We know the original FR devs went to Clone Wars Adventures shortly after release (when development on new areas & jobs ceased), so I was hopeful that they might return some after that game launches - but now news of SOE layoffs...

They really need to follow up the announcement with a flurry of longterm content promises, or I'm going have to conclude the current status quo will continue and the lifetime offer is a simple cash-grab.

That's because the offer runs from Friday, July 16th through Monday, August 2nd.

$30 bucks is a good deal even for the small monthly fee it typically runs on. I would like to know SOE's thoughts on how long Free Realms plans on running for in the long run. Somehow I doubt new zone content will be made but getting some word from them on this would be good to know, also.

Based on the vague comments from SOE employees on the forums, I don't expect any Major new content, but it is worth $30 to ride out the rest of Free Realms life. I might even buy it for my family's non-member accounts.

Oh nice! I'll probably get this for my daughter, it concerns me they may have hinted at no big content update because I thought there was one coming? Land of the elves, not anymore?

I don't understand the deal with this game. It came out with a bang, then they pretty much just abandoned developing new content for it. All there has been for months is new cash shop items. The game is hardly a year old! Seriously, wtf?

That's seems to be SOE's MO.

Jef Reahard, could you update the article (or post a follow up) with the info that anyone that has already purchased a one year subscription to FR will automatically be upgraded to lifetime at no extra cost! (woo hoo!) The link is on their "What Is New?" page under the News menu item. Thanks.

I was very pleased to see that, having just gone with the 1 year sub when it was offered, but also am wondering if this means the game will not see any new areas or races now.
