The team at Perpetuum has been busy the past week or so. The requirements for beta have been lightened a bit-- no thesis required -- and there is some great in-game footage of a player event.
Our latest dose of news is new information on the NEXUS system. NEXUS stands for "Networked Extension Utilization Systems", modules designed to enhance the performance of some robot parts. This isn't a single-player attachment or upgrade, however. When one of these modules is activated, every robot in a 100-meter range gets the buff. The range can be increased to 400 meters or more with certain extensions.
It's an interesting system, but only one of many changes the team has made to Perpetuum. Check out the latest round of update notes for all the details.

Is it a bad thing if it's "Eve with little robots on the ground."? Most Eve reviews are good.

Seeing that EVE has years of polish, I don't think its very fair to compare Perpetuum's depth to that of EVE's.

Still wondering when CCP will sue the pants off these folks.

I had thought maybe the EVE players would have the sense not to cry out "EVE CLOAN LOL" every time a *similar* game comes out. But I guess the collective of EVE fanboys is just as worse as that of WoW. Good to see some things never change.

by saying "clone" one would infer a degree of similarity that includes depth of the original's core values. internet spaceship shooting collage will get to compared to EVE due to gameplay similarity, but that != "clone". So far I've been reading massively entries on those games and the hypothetical catchy phrase of "eve clone" didn't really appear.
if this game is a EVE clone in the true sense, meaning the vast community participate in world shaping, is a good thing to both CCP (competition => motivation) and players (more choices). Don't mention that I'll try this game myself if that is the case.

If we are talking "clones" then just about every MMORPG should be held liable that is out there for cloning each others features. I think these guys are a small team of less than 10.
