It was President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who said, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." While it would be more than three-quarters of a century after that when Allods Online was released, he certainly could have been referring to the Fear of Death penalty that caused quite a bit of fear and rage among players. But that tortured analogy no longer applies, as today sees the release of the newest patch for the game, Revelations of Gipat, which removes Fear of Death for good and puts a new death penalty into place.
For many of the game's players, removing the unnecessarily cash-shop-based penalty would be enough to make the patch laudable. But as was revealed when the team released the patch notes last week, the update also sees the addition of a new zone, a raise in level cap, and new content for everyone to enjoy. After the marathon maintenance session, Allods Online is live again and ready for play -- it's worth checking out, even if the size of the patch might scare you off. You can also check out our gallery, showing off some of the new content players can expect as well as mounts.

Stop lying, you get cursed at a 70% rate from what me and my guild experienced.
Incense + Occasionnal cost of cursed items=15$/week if you REALLY played this game in End game.

I was really charmed by this game when I first played it. Loved the Empire and it's steampunk soviet theme. But the fact that I need to use the cash shop for important gameplay elements (like respeccing and now this damage nerf) has really put me off. I uninstalled it. It's a shame, this game had a lot of potential.

Most complainers here dont really see the bigger picture and are probably playing the game for free without spending any money in the cash shop and are angry that the good times are over and they might have to spend a bit of money!
Truth is no one knows how the developers are doing financially and are probably suffering quite badly as most players are playing the free element and not spending any money. A game as good as this takes a lot of capital upfront which needs repaying, not helped by a lot (maybe most) people happy to play the game but refusing to give any money to the developers who provided them with said game. Damage reduction is probably a necessary evil to encourage people to spend money otherwise the company (and game) would go bust and then no one would be playing.

And what you don't seem to understand is that damage reduction drives people away from the game.
And you also don't seem to understand that there were a load of people interested in paying the equivalent of a subscription every month to not concern themselves with the cash shop (that offers almost only items necessary to make the game playable instead of vanity items).
If this game had followed a hybrid model as DDO it would be a crushing success since it is incredibly polished and is really fun. But they decided to kill it by doing moronic things with their cash shop.

NO! This game should not have taken the DDO route. why would anyone want to be forced to pay for more content?? Allods' current system with the damage nerf and incense is still playable without spending money. This system allows a player to play the entire game, all the quests, all the gear, all the dungeons/raids, without spending a single cent. yeah the damage nerf sucks, but it's easy to play around: fight weaker mobs, keep your questing a level below you, wear greens if you're afraid of curses (or rep blues, easy to replace), and do some partying. Yep, it puts the grind on in full effect for free-players, but shouldn't that be expected? pay to level faster or grind grind grind for free?

They have also designed their cash shop to require everyone to pay a little, as opposed to the standard cash shop design of a FEW pay a lot.
If they had done without the cursing, debuffing, required damage buffs and just paid a few designers to go crazy on vanity clothes, crazy mounts and maybe purchasable glows for weapons and armor I think they would be swimming in cash.

They already acquired the rights, they already bought the game from the Russians, which means, they don't need to spend any more money of development.
This game had a 12 milions EURO budget, they are definitely not suffering and are using this game just as a money magnet for idiotic kids.
Once they get enough, they will simply throw this game at the garbage and go into another project, what can prove what i just said ?Just look at how they made 90% of the game elements Cash Shop dependent.

This game will be fine. People who are paying now will pay the low amount for this. The free players are the ones who will feel the nerf. If you arent willing to chip in for server cost. Then you cant complain that they took away your toys!

Free players are a game feature. They fill out groups, harvest, mine, populate the zones. Kind of "smart" NPCs.
A free-to-play game that does away with free players is going to be a very lonely landscape.
I love Allods (played this morning) but I don't think they will have much luck trying to get subscription-esque prices from every player.

This patch terribly killed this game, just look on forums how everyone is complaining.
You basically have to pay money when you die in end game, don't tell me i can use the Auction House because 95% of Cash shop items are OVER PRICED
and only the crackheads who spend 100 bucks a week on Allods can enjoy this game at the fullest.
The forum admins are a bunch of liars who spend their time deleting opinion posts and only keep the fanboy ones(Yes i'm talking to you Miss_Sadie.).
When you say your opinion on the forums, without giving out any offensive remarks, you automatically get flagged as a troll and even get suspended for "Trolling and spreading false information."
gPotato is a disgrace of the gaming industry and this game is dying like the Russian Version did, after the patch came out, city zone chat is quiet as hell.
When they make announcements, they always give nice ideas to players to make them feel better about the game and 1 week before the release, they realse a new statement saying that they had to change things "in the last minute",what happened to mounts is a perfect example,go look in the forums if you didn't get banned for saying your opinion.
This game IS a Sad Pay To Win Piece Of Crap and even PvP became unfair because of the Cash Shop potion stacking maniacs 3 shotting everyone in the field.
The travelling system is an epic failure, the Astral is way too big,the ships are way too slow and it takes minimum 3 hours to find an island to explore and this is IF you don't get your ship destroyed by a monster or ennemy ship.
My guild has over 135 active players who were spending money on this game and 117 of them told me they are leaving this game and going back to World of Warcraft.
Rest in peace Allods Online, beta was great, after this it became pure garbage.because of the Cash Shop potion stacking maniacs 3 shotting everyone in the field.

Time to go back to WoW and wait till SWTOR and C9 comes out.
Enjoy a game filled with mediocrity if you decide to stay in Allods Online.

Look on the bright side: the gold spammers are gone. ;)
It's weird though. You can sell cash shop items for gold in this game (for all practical purposes you're buying gold), but there's still gold sellers. Does not compute.

Yea, after reading the patch notes I realized it was going CS only and 1-25 leveling would be super fast (with mounts) after which it is CS or nothing as a lvl 40 healer I will be forced to spend a LOT on CS which is crazy, they should really just make this game subscription and rebalance for that. $15/month would be great, but not $15 so I could quest 60% faster, pay for backpack/bank everything down the line. Plus, incense is now a must, you have it or you cannot really play.
I have not even logged in since the patch, and don't plan to, I know it will be a full-on whine-fest in /zone and guild
I switched over to Aika for the time being, at least until FFXIV at which point I will not be doing F2P games for a long while, this has soured me on them pretty bad.
Was fun playing while it was good..
