The idea of console MMOs is nothing new. After all, EverQuest Online Adventures, Final Fantasy XI, and the Phantasy Star titles have managed to successfully publish on consoles. With that said, it seems as if there's been a trend with recent MMOs to say they were going to console like Age of Conan and Champions Online, only to change their minds later. That's why we weren't surprised to see that David Jones, Creative Director of Realtime Worlds, sat down with Eurogamer and discussed the potential of a console port for his company's recent release, All Points Bulletin.
What we did find interesting was that, despite knowledge of consoles from working on the first two Grand Theft Auto titles and Realtime Worlds being partnered with EA for distribution, there has been no discussion between the two companies regarding porting All Points Bulletin to consoles. Jones notes that the team at Realtime Worlds will remain focused on working on the PC version, as opposed to shifting into trying to build a console version, or trying to "shop around" for a partner. That said, he certainly sounds willing to discuss a deal if the right distribution partner for consoles were willing to contact them. Be sure to pop over to Eurogamer if you're wondering what else Jones may have in mind for All Points Bulletin.

This is almost becoming "not really news". Every other upcoming MMO claims interest in consoles, then never delivers. Didn't Champions Online claim it was going to try to go to consoles too? Seems like the only console MMOs we'll see are the aforementioned EQOA, FFXI, both Phantasy Star games, and FFXIV.

DUST 514 is being made exclusively for consoles, and DCUO ain't out yet(neither is 514), so we'll see on DCUO.

I doubt we'll see it, either, but I think the last copy for The Secret World promised an Xbox 360 version, too.

Honestly, I feel like APB was a much better fit for consoles than PC's...

Maybe they should concentrate on ensuring it's not a buggy piece of crap that doesn't work on any PC that wasn't build in the last few weeks and costs less than $3000. I can't see how they're going to port it to consoles when they can't get it to run properly on something that doesn't have a quad-core CPU and 4GB of RAM.

New games may require new hardware... shocking!
My gaming rig is about 1.5 years old, has 4gb of (no-name) ram, 3.1ghz C2D E8500 [dual core] CPU, gforce 298 with 768mb of vram - it has absolutely no problem running the game at high quality settings with 50+ FPS.

Check the forums. Plenty of people with machines that meet the recommended spec and can't play due to something in the game pegging the CPU at 100% all the time.
Also, as my comment was regarding a console port, exactly how are you going to install that extra 4GB of RAM in your Xbox 360? Or that new Geforce card?

I would imagine sony would be the easiest way to get it on consoles but that might just limit it to the ps3 only. Graphics wise I think its easier for developers to make good graphics for the console and run decently. They also say something about how the operating system as opposed to the console uses up more resources.
