Its a very cool game for a F2P and if it wasn't for the forcing of buying perfumes etc. to play i would have played it and perhaps even used the shop for cosmetics and xp pots etc.

to be completely honest. I was just scrolling through really fast, and I usually stop at something that interests me. I just skipped right passed this post because the image looked like something from WoW. I came back up and found that it's not.

I came back up for reasons unknown, but thought I had to comment on it.

I find it kind of odd that the massively writer here did not mention the new gear cursing system that will replace fear of death. It is in fact more oppressive than the old system and mandates use of the cash shop.

Im not really worried about the max lvls buying into this system because they have time invested already and would like to probably continue, But for people like myself that were starting out in this game i think it will deter them indefinitely.

It is highly likely that the price of the decursing scroll on the ah will exceed what noobs have on hand in currency and either force them to use the cash shop or leave.

Very poor business practice to deter new players from their game i think.

Most Free-to-Play games use a system where a small portion of the players pay for items/services while a majority don't.

Allods seems to be attempting to adopt a everyone-pays-a-little system which worries me.

That being said, I have confidence that they are not willing to let their game die. They have been VERY responsive to the community (more than any other game I've played) and if the "curse" system they use is a game-killer I am confident it will go the same route as Fear-of-Death.

To recap:

-They had very high prices on their cash shop and the community got upset: They lowered prices.
- They added Fear of Death and the community got upset: They removed it.

Don't count them out.

New players need not worry about the new death penalty as it only affects epic gear, and as a n00b you won't have any. This only really affects people in the upper levels.

More like

They announced FoD, People got upset, They added it anyway
People left the game, They got around to removing it and replaced it with something that could be arguably worse but time and CS pricing will be the judge of that.

On that note the initial CS prices weren't just bad they were pants on head retarded, people were assuming a programming error had erroneously moved a decimal ...... found out later it was planned like that ..... and subsequently changed about a week later.

Not the best track record for a game that measured on any other basis is awesome beyond comprehension.

I'm not apposed to using a CS however and I can not stress this enough ..... try to bully me into using the CS through some asinine game mechanic and I'll start looking for other games regardless of how awesome your game is, and this game is awesome.

"How has the War Banner been changed?

The exploits that have been plaguing the War Banner have been fixed and players that are three levels or more beneath the War Banner carrier will not need to worry about getting “ganked” as long as they have their Flag of War lowered. Additionally, War Banners can now only be raised in the zone that they were received in, and only contested zones will contain War Banners."

..so does this mean level 20 players entering the Holy Lands won't be ganked by a group of level 40's anymore?

No, he will be ganked by a group of 40-s with 1 20-23 "companion".

Companion hacks at you, you hack back... and you're dead meat.

Not all the gankers are that smart, tho :)

I loved Allods, really. But I stopped around lvl23 where I ran out of the bank/bag slots... not gonna pay 1$ per freaking bug slot.

When I play subscription based games I just pay my 15 a month and don't care anymore.

For my monthly subscription I get much more value then when I put it in any of the F2P games. Hell... I might even live with it... but if the company makes game changes which force you to use the cash shop.... no freaking way... have fun and thx for all the fish.

I hate F2P - it's not free at all.

You could just buy $15 worth of gPotatos a month and buy things like bags out of those accumulated funds. That way it's no different from a P2P except if you don't feel like buying gPotatos one month you don't have to and can still play. Rethink your MMO paradigms, make and stick to a budget, and F2P is superior to P2P in many ways. Think about it.

Great game until these new features surface. I was willing to play the game through but now they give the player little option but to cash shop. I was willing to pay before for the cash shop items but now it's a necessity.

This is my cue to ditch this game and go back to WoW. At least my 150$ per year will now be spent on a game with support, heartfelt changes, excellent end game and top pvp performance/gameplay.

If you are willing put up with the changes, good luck and happy grind fest end game.

...which in WoW, you can easily live without Daemodand. Since there's nothing forcing you to pay for one of those.

They're talking about items you need to play Allods that come with an expirey date. To me it appears WoW's sub model is the one that's is far superior here. Perhaps it's your MMO paradimes that need to shift here. Just saying...

I'm really happy to see mounts! I hope they're sexy and not lame. Now they need to get to work on pets and appearance armor/clothing.

As it stands the cash shop is very Russian: all utility and no fun. A good cash shop is just the opposite! Make sexy things and people WILL buy! Not because they have to, but because they want to!

@ Daemodand

Umm No, The cursed fun starts with Rare Items :)

Which means all your Rep gear, which is basicly required to be able to transition smoothly to new zones without getting ones butt handed to one in a paper sack, Is all curse fodder.

Rep gear as I recall starts around lvl 10, actually no It starts around lvl 5-6 (whenever you leave the starter zones) So all this "Newbs don't have to worry" propaganda doesn't really hold water "of Death" lol.

And they are making CS items expire if they aren't used within a certain period of time Starting with 7 days and then admittedly bumping it up to 30 days with subsequent patches. The ONLY reason for which is to clear out existing stocks of said Items so they can sell more ........... Sorry that's just a blatant cash grab.

In fairness its not all CS items just
Water(s)
Potion(s)
Incense

Think that was it (essentially "consumables")

I'm sorry nothing I purchase in a F2P game should EVER EXPIRE without input on my part. EG I actively start a countdown on say an XP item which will now expire in X hours, Thats cool. The act of me buying an Item that then starts a countdown time that I have in which to use said Item ..... total BS

@Daemodand

Only the bag slots are per character not per account... so either you forget about alts or you gonna do it for each of your characters. So for my 15 a month I can enjoy playing whatever I feel like. Besides the moment I reroll, I loose the money/slots/whatnot.

Item cursing is worse than FoD from a cash-grab perspective.

This game will die a slow lingering death until/unless PvE servers are put up. The PvP is a hack-ridden gankfest and will be forever. Astrum Nival or whoever the hell is the actual "developer" now clearly lacks the skills, motivation, or inclination to fix their game this is so easily hacked.

It is VERY sad that all the PvP hacker/gankers are light years ahead of the so-called "smart" developers. Were the developers asleep for the last 14 years when all these same exploits happened in all the other MMO's with PvP? Evidently.

@Daemodand you obviously havent read the patch notes yet. Please read them.

I have seen this yet but ive seen a few posts that are close to it. The fanatical defense of a game belongs on its home forums just want to state that. Its where that kind of post is most seen and welcomed.

This is more of a neutral area where we can discuss the flaws of games freely without recourse. And from what i can see the reason people dont like this game is buried in the facts of the patch notes that were released.

I do agree with scuffles that this game is amazing, when i first found out i thought it was fantastic. I like the game down to the ambient sounds. But i will not be bullied into the cash shop.

Right now im playing rom and so far its been better cash shop wise, im not bullied into it right off. And from what i can see i can use the dailys to purchase what i need from the cash shop if i refuse to pay.

If i do get more involved i will probably buy some amt of diamonds per month to support the game

Btw i still would pay an allods subscription if i could skip all the cash items and have access to them in one form or another
