Last time i checked it was july 1st, not april 1st... This is a joke, right? Didnt someone from the team come out saying they are aiming for much more modest numbers right after EA announced their 1 million break even plans with TOR?

No Raiding.

Little character customization at end game.

..... How is this going to be attractive to WoW players again?

------------------------

Honestly Sony should "re-launch" EQ-II under a different - that would attract a million WoW players ... especially with Activision / Blizzards current trashing of large-scale raiding for Cata.

Wow! Did they not learn anything from watching WAR?

Attaching any number of anticipated subscribers more than 3-4 years out from release is ignorant at best. Plus people are so tired of hearing about the WoW Killer, WoW Competitor or the WoW Friendly… The people who read these articles are not necessarily part of the “14” million subscribers. I also suspect a large number of those subscribers are ESL, if that.

We’ve heard it before, and even heard it said better. Results = same.

Stop telling me you are doing it better then what’s already been done. Show me you have the best of what hasn’t been attempted. I already expect it to have at what we have seen.

ROFL, no one likes Warhammer Online, why would they think anyone wants to play 40k over Cataclysm, FFXIV, or SWTOR?

Once again an MMO pits itself against the biggest in the business and thus dooms itself to failure. Someone should teach the MMO makers to keep their big mouths shut until the game is out, over hyping of this sort is not helpful and builds up expectations that are going to be dissapointed.

I'm calling it now, This will flop about like a half dead trout for about 6 months after the initial hype dies off and then, if THQ decides to keep it going, it may develope a loyal following (much like Conan has) and slow growth over time.

Most of WoW's 11 million+ subscribers will likely never the inside of a raiding instance.

...So why should other MMOs cater to this fractionally tiny demographic?

According to Craig Metzen more than 50% of WoW's active players raided during WLK - and when you account for low level alt etc (that was based on actual toons played) that percentage is the vast majority of max level characters.

The mistake of games like WAR and AoC that expect to attract WoW players is not having PvE raid end-game. Its the one thing all of the most successful fantasy MMOs have in common (EQ, EQII, LOTRO, WoW, etc)

Another unfortunate thing working against Warhammer 40K here is timing - going up against FFXIV and SWTOR as well as free-to-play LOTRO and DDO isnt gonna work well for them.

Finally, WoW's 14 million subscribers is a joke number. Currently the best estimates are more like 5 million. Remember they lost China which they were counting as 5-7 million of that 14 even though it was sub-licensed. And anyone who plays knows the population is WAAAAYYYY down right now. On the smaller pop servers you can run around Dalaran without even seeing other players sometimes.

Sunfire, feel free to base your argument on "you can run around Dalaran without even seeing other players". Those of us who have a genuine interest in how well the game is doing can look at Activision Blizzard's audited financial statements, and see that revenue is increasing, not decreasing.

Considering Andy Chambers now works for Blizzard, they have some mean competition. For those of you who don't know, Andy Chambers is known as 'The Father of Warhammer 40k.

Hard to tell. 3rd edition 40k was an utter nightmare regardless of who was behind the wheel. Now, it's not so bad.

THQ seems doesn't have learned nothing from Warhammer Online, you better come back to create good RTS for W40K because the brand does not deserve to become another mmorpg epic fail.

I think some people read the words : " WoW " and " Friendly " and jumped to a conclusion with really, no info.

WoW friendly could mean any number of things. Maybe they ARE going to be a WoW clone with a 40K skin and doom themselves, but I don't think they're that stupid. Or maybe he's simply saying that the interface is gonna make WoW players feel right at home. You really don't know, no point in going "RABBLERABBLE I'M NEVER GOING TO PLAY THIS GAME! RAGE!"

This game comes out in THREE years, right? That's a long time in this business. You know who is going to beat WoW? Blizzard. They are going to come out with the "next gen" MMO [opinion] around the same time as this 40k is going to launch if not a little sooner. LMAO.

Why is it a must to take players from WoW come up with something new and interesting you'll attract people who dont play WoW or any other mmo . Also I did'nt know Wow Had 14 million players now .I ll take this statement with a pinch of salt he proberbly had a liquid lunch before the interview and started spouting stuff off the top of his head .
