If you're a fan of TERA but weren't able to make it to E3 2010, you can still check out portions of the lengthy press demonstration video that En Masse Entertainment showcased a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles. Gametrailers has an edited version of the video, narrated by producers Sam Kim and Stefan Ramirez, which takes viewers on a whirlwind tour of TERA's action combat as five of the game's eight classes are shown battling through a scenario to take down the evil Captain Marduck.
"Keep in mind that this isn't a trailer, it is a cut down version of our demo and it is built entirely from footage captured from one of our sessions. We're going to boil this down to a five minute recap that gives you a taste of the experience," Ramirez notes.
The video highlights the berserker, warrior, slayer, sorcerer, and priest classes. Check it out after the jump, or at Gametrailers.

Ok, I was iffy about this game, but that looks awesome. I still dislike the art-style, however game-play might make up for the generic look.

This is exactly what I hoped it would look like. It reminds of Monster Hunter but without some of MH's clumsiness. Hard to believe it's an MMO, even.
I've got no idea what Landeyda's going on about with the generic look bit. There are -far- more generic looking MMO's out there, but to each his own I guess.

The problem that they face is with how much skill it will take.
It would probably cut out a very big chunk of people in the current MMO community, and that would be it is not going to attain a very big retention number and be called a failure simply because they could not play it and looking at the subscriber base.
I'm still anticipating this MMO a long with SWTOR and maybe FFXIV if combat intensifies according to level.

I think there are a lot of players out there WISHING there was a game out there that was reasonable difficult to play, thereby ensuring that skill wins out over time played. I myself have been waiting for a MMO that takes a bit of skill to play and isnt really twitch based (like APB) so am looking forward ot this as its looks great (however so did Aion and I couldnt really get into that for some reason)

Brian Knox guarantees that it is completely westernized...

Well this time it might be believable unlike Aion that was already out in Korea and pretty much just ported over with almost no changes. Bluehole gave En Masse the go ahead to make the changes they feel are needed to make it western.

I am completely sold on this game. It's a shame it won't ship until next year, but FFXIV will hold me over until then.

That video did a lot to renew my interest in the game. This is the first MMO I've seen where the combat looks as good as a console game. If EnMasse can sufficiently Westernize the game and add the depth and heart Aion lacked, this could definitely be a contender with GW2 and SWTOR.

I looked around a bit online to see if this game supports solo play and apparently Berserkers are the more rounded solo class. I'm generally a solo player so it was important to find out whether TERA would allow it seeing how the game demo video presented it to be group oriented. I may end up just passing up on this game anyways, though. Otherwise, nice demo video. The "sport announcer" gameplay feedback was a bit silly but amusing. heh

They very specifically stated the game was soloable if you're very skilled. If it's anything like Monster Hunter that means that you've got to be on top of your game and evade every hit possible, and some enemies are going to take a little while to kill, but it's completely doable.

I really enjoyed the casting animations. The priest looked like he was using a large touch screen to cast his heals. I haven't been excited about an MMO in ages, but this one could be great. Let's just hope it is not so grindy, although grinding with an actual combat system and not button mashing is probably less painful.

This game looks pretty fun, I like that you will need to keep moving and be actively defending yourself. It reminds me of the way Aion looks, which isn't necessarily a bad thing Aion has gorgeous environments.
I look forward to trying this one for sure

@M -- "I don't like the ridiculously oversized weapons (that's a bit of style I can never stand in these games). Also the porn-dance casting is waaaaay over the top. Some of the mobs design was weird... Maybe the game play is better...."
I have to say I agree with you, M. Much of the game, however, looks pretty good.
I particularly liked how the healer played out.
The weapon sizes, however, are pretty laughable. I also found some of the monster designs pretty comical as well -- though I thought the boss at the end and the giant crab things were quite well done.
