Watching the trailer its looks very much like Aion lol

Looking at the forums was interesting very few posts, goes to show that there is far too many of the FTP games and not enough players to go around.

Having said that the class using the claw weapons looks great, after playing an assassin in Diablo 2 I've always wanted a class in an mmo that uses claw weapons :)

You may be on to something with the Aion comment...

I just downloaded, installed and played and I have to say- if this game isn't built on the very engine Aion uses itself, it is either using a modified version of it or one designed to do pretty much what Aion does, minus the flight mechanics. The action bar and interface set up, even the character creation tool is very similar to Aion's, sliders and all. Not a bad thing, really. It's done pretty well, though not quite as polished as Aion's.

As long as I'm comparing it to Aion, I may as well mention that the graphics are probably the best I've seen in any F2P game I've ever tried (With the exception of Allods Online. Allods overall art design and direction is amazing, even better than most P2P/Subscription games IMO.), and I've tried plenty! Of special note for me is the lighting (which reminds me of the light effects in the Aion 2.0 Vision trailer) and the very cool "blur" effect that is present when you activate your character's "Dash" ability and turn the camera. Pretty cool!

My only gripes with the game are as follows: First, though it does have WASD movement, Martial Empires bases its combat system off of the click-to-move style, so there is no moving and attacking- you must stand still to auto attack and use your skills (However, I found skill/ability usage and triggering to be quite fast and responsive, with some nice animations). Also, what's up with not being able to move your character by pressing and holding down both mouse buttons at the same time? This should be standard on all MMOs of this type by now... Second, keybinding is rather limited, with no support for binding extra mouse buttons or modifiers. I really hate not being able to bind middle click to Auto Run or some other handy skill/command. It's 2010 and last I checked, the mouse is here to stay. Can we finally start adding support for ALL of the buttons on most mice now? Third, some of the translations were off and the game features little to no voice acting. The VO during the opening cinematic is especially bad. At one point, I literally turned my volume all the way down so I could watch the cinematic without any sound. I was THAT embarrassed by the voice acting. Last, while I'm on the subject of audio related stuff, I have to say that the music is pretty meh. The sound effects are good, however, with some good mob, environmental, and combat sounds.

Anyhow, those are my thoughts on the game so far for anyone looking for a quick mini-review to help them decide if they should waste time downloading and installing or not. Worth a download and a quick play if you ask me. Also, gathering and crafting look interesting as well btw, though I didn't get to try them out myself... Outside of that, though, don't look for anything too innovative or genre redefining. You might be disappointed.

umm wow, this game acutally doesnt suck?

Looks like it uses the AION engine lots of things are similar, the speical moves are crazy ...and i mean CRAZY kind of out of a action single player game.

After you have killed a few mobs you can turn into a Demon for a short period complete with its own soundtrack!? lol wtf !

Also at lv 6 you get a move called deathblow....it has to be seen. its INSANE

Not bad for a free game at all, keep in mind it still is a grinder go here kill that etc. But the animation is over the top so it keeps you intrsted in seeing the next move or new gear.

worth the download

Damn you Massively for giving me yet another interesting F2P to look into. You'd think this site is about MMO's or something. ;)

My gaming plate is pretty full right now with Allods, Earth Eternal and *gasp* Counter-Strike, but part of the beauty of F2P is you can try anything out and if you don't like it, no harm no foul. And if you do like it, well it was only a social life, you didn't need one of those, right? :p

Am I doing this wrong or are the classes really gender locked?

For the moment, they are locked. Apparently they are just not there yet and they are also still working on a healing class, from what I read on the forums.

Actually a very nice suprise of a game so far, though I've only put about two hours in. I'm definately giving this one some more time though as I'm really enjoying it so far.

Ah ok, I thought I was missing something. The game is Beautiful, the animations are awesome. The gender locked thing was bugging me (also the lack of healer class) but if they are in the works then I can overlook it. GMs were pretty active (but it is the first day of OB). There's a lot of odd wording if you're a quest reader.

All in all I'm pleasantly surprised with this game. My mind may change once I get into pvp...

Why does the trailer for this game say Action MMORPG, but it's not?
