I played Allods for the past few months, and overall I found it a very satisfying WoW clone with some interesting features/classes. Some of it was pretty cool (the Arisen and their "Egyptian cyborg undead" vibe immediately comes to mind). Some of it was dreadful (practically everything about the open world pvp system). Overall, it's a reasonably pretty game with some glaring flaws, bugs, and exploits.

After the latest patch (1.1), the cash chop items are mandatory, unless you never die, don't quest and avoid all pvp zones (i.e. all zones over lvl 20). I guess you could stand around and look pretty in one of the capitol cities, but the evil game designer overlords would then probably figure out a way to charge you with loitering.

Most people don't mind shelling out a few bucks here and there for bags or mounts or vanity pets ... if they are enjoying themselves. Trying to force them to spend upwards of $50 a month to remain competitive and avoid things like death penalties and cursed gear will only end badly.

Trust me, it's already ended badly.

The servers are empty.

Thanks for helping the GMs dance around all the issues people are having with the game now.

Go play Allods if you are looking for a pay to play game, cash shop items are *required* for in game mechanics and unlike before you can only get them from the cash shop or the auction house.

So real money or lots of gold, your choice

Somebody posted a chat log of the event with massively.com in the Allods forums. I lol'd at the brazen bold faced lies the GM's were telling. Oh we can't confirm that there has been a dmg reduction... go hit a mob there's your confirmation. Oh there's not a mass exodus from the game... My entire guild of 94 left, one guild of many that have. Historically there is a tendency for numbers to be low because people are patching... never noticed it before on any patches, they were on within hours of the release. There hasn't been much negative feedback, mainly check out my sweet mount... People are zone chatting all the time about how crappy it is, as well as how crappy the mounts are. Denial, it's not just a river in Egypt.

I hope this event does not get canceled. Folks at Massively should see the VACANT zones and then see the CHOMP and SADIE (GM's in chat) are mouthpieces for their greedy and foolish employers.
This game had alot to offer. Great classes, races, good stories, sights and things to do outside of quests. a great rep system, good crafting and cash flow. It even had ways to PVP from an air ship in space....fantastic expericnce fighting with a team of pals for gold and booty and pride. AMAZING and better than wow as I beta tested wow up thru 80. FUN. Sure idiots in low level chat..but hey it was free (now its FORCE)
The patch ended all of this..... they could have simply given options to sub or sub on incense or curse protection. So many other options.... but to steal money (and they are stealing; they way its set up) and then to LIE that all is well...ugh CHOMP saying people in chat talking about "sweet mounts" OMFG >>>> LIES. No one rides after that dum horse quest... anyway. Its over and that is sad. GPot will never sucker me in again. Ever. Yes I am that bitter.

I'm gladly warning people not to trust this company with your money. It costs you real money if you die now...even if you die due to a bug.

I sent them this email yesterday:
Greetings. I'm loving Allods Online, but I have a problem. I was riding my new mount through I was riding to the Igsh Military district and suddenly I fell though the world!!! I died, but the problem is that it used up one of the Holy Charms that I paid for. I'm requesting that it be restored since this was completely due to an unintended and unforseen bug. Character Name: Erfquake Server: Nezeb Time of Occurence: around 17:15 Thank you for your help :D

Here was their response:
Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us about the issue. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse Holy Charms in these type of situations. We understand the death was due to a bug and we apologize for the inconvenience. Our game is currently in Open Beta and we look to having these type of bugs fixed closer to official release. Thank you! The Allods Team

I know that Holy Charms are very cheap, but that's not the point. Their CS design is horrid and nobody should trust their money to a game that is admitting that it's buggy and not ready for release AND isn't ashamed to waste your money to get there.

Sorry this is so long, but it's very frustrating to be treated like this.

they won't see any vacant zone in this event.
there are a lot of new players in-game, and the event will be at the starting zone.
they are smart, they won't show how holy land and other level 20 + zones are so empty.

make the event at holy land!!!
after that come and say to us:
"There is no mass exodus"

All reviews for allods are either before patch 1.1 or is just the starting zones, so IMO no one is really showing how the game is. If you want to review the game, play through level 25 at least.
See how holy land is before saying anything about allods.

Heck, I will even let a Massively writer use my 40 scout, if they want to experience the nerf we all got from this patch.
I just logged out and the guild I am in of over 80 with over 40 play daily folks was gone. Only 3 online when there is normally 20 or so this time of night. The Novo courtyard usually has 20-30 chars lfg'ng and chatting only had 10 or so and 2 where at the AH.
At least 2 medium size guilds I know of are actively looking for a new game. Looks like LOTR is in the lead.

I think Xfire says it all
http://www.xfire.com/games/allods/Allods_Online/

Logged time for Allods down 40%, even during Massively event.

When this patch hit the Russian servers they all moved to the EU servers, now that it is up on the EU and NA servers you can see the real extent of the amount of play hours are lost.

who I am:

IGN: Kingarthur
Sever: Nezeb
Guild: Camelot
Alliances: SeventhCircle

combined over 100 level 40 members, very active end game players with multiple Astral runs, Heroics, Questing groups every day. Most acitve players before latest patch were buying Gpots for WoD's, WoL's and Crystal Chips. Both Guilds are now inactive and Camelot guild has disbanned and refuses to condone any support of such an unethical company by playing Allods Online.
Before the patch the game was glitchy, buggy, but was still playable.
We had done events along side GM's and were a BIG part of the Nezeb League community - sad to say I'm ashamed I even bothered waisting my time promoting the game.
After the last patch more glitches, more bugs, and more unexpected character deaths were added to the game ALL of which pointed to using Cash shop items.
Infact FORCING every player level 20+ to use Items ONLY found in the cash shop. Gala-net first promised all customers a Completely free to play game by promising end game content and items will be available in game via difficult quests as well as the mount. Bait n Switch anyone?

90%+ of Camelot Guilds PAYING players left Allods Online some players have stockholm syndrome and believe the mitigated smoke blowing that was spewed and keep playing this game but the rest of us have now taken off our rose colored glasses and Paid for a great game LOTRO!

Camelot Lives just no longer in Allods Online.

It is extremely un ethical to have a game which is riddled with bugs, glitches that kill characters and then only offer the items to fix the deaths in cash shop. That is just one of many horrible things they are tryiing to pull over peoples eyes.

Please be warned all the negative feed back you've read on here is true and anyone telling you other wise is just lieing.

Sincerely,

Kingarthur - Camelot Guild - Nezeb Server
