Do we need a cash shop item in order to not be cursed by the Devs?

Interesting concept, you don't see many developers mixing it up with the players like this. I may have to check this event out.

They are not the developers, they are the publishers/translators, right?

Indeed. Not Astrum Nival, but the translation team and publishing side of things.

I have chars on that server and may join the event... Oh, wait - I've forgot I couldn't even finish tutorial quests - twice! Having 15 years of gaming experience is not enough to complete starter quest due to poor level design.

Is this game any good? I hear this game is an amazing game that is completely ruined by its cash shop, of course, how much that is forum QQ vs reality... I dont know... Maybe one of you can clue me in? Do any of you play it? How much money would you spend a month on the CS to be competitive, in comparison to a sub game?

If i can play this game for 15-20 a month and not feel held back, I might try it. If they want 100+ a month to play a game, no way in hell.

Having played it for a little bit I can tell you that Allod's is just a cheap WoW clone, without an ounce of originality.

And yes, they basically screwed the game up a while back with their cash shop, by almost forcing buying items as later (after level 15 if I'm not mistaken), the begin afflicting you with a heavy handed death penalty, that really requires an item to remove.
Don't know if this is still the case, but it's pretty likely.

Not sure how it will affect your wallet, but your probably better off with WoW, or just about any other MMO out there. gPatato basically do quantity of quality.

I'll disagree with Yoh.

Allods is a fantastic game. I played WoW for years and I'll say that whatever similarities Allods has with WoW are the same ones WoW has with Everquest, etc.

Allods is a highly polished MMO.

The best thing about it? It's free. Try it yourself, play it for YEARS if you want and when you find you need to spend cash decide whether the game is worth it.

I still have change in the cash shop from the $20 I dropped into it and I've been playing since closed beta.

Honestly, if you're curious just give it a shot.

I just tried playing this game I can't even get passed the tutorial. I was an Arisen character and I couldn't even tell where I was going in the level, there's no wall, floors or even obstacles. It seemed like I kept running into invisible walls, it was horrible. I'm about to delete it right now.

Pingles, be careful, your gPotato paycheck is sticking out of your pocket.

Yoh is 100% correct. This game becomes a hack ridden gankfest exactly the moment you step off the boat in the Holy Lands. Great game up to that point, for the most part.

Customers will not play to be victims. What do you call fundamentally flawed game mechanics that permit a max level player to repeatedly and without consequence one-shot any lower level player for as long as they wish? Fail.

Oh, and all the while, the lower level player getting one-shotted repeatedly is forced to buy cash shop items with real world money to get rid of the death penalties. Good times.

I guess there really ARE niche games for everyone. In this case, masochists.

I have to admit, that cracked me up.

I just like the game.

Yoh is wrong about the game. The current death penalty does not require a cs item to remove. You can wait it out if you choose, no need to spend money on it at all. And when the new patch goes live, Fear of Death will be removed and replaced with a kind of epic item decay (cursing) instead.

The new patch also addresses the ganking by heavily modifying how war banners work. Though it's true, the PvP is unavoidable unfortunately. They'd do well to open a carebear server. Game would be much more popular if they did that, since there'd be no more ragequits. Those ragequits are the #1 thing holding this game back.

lol@Those ragequits are the #1 thing holding this game back
Funny stuff
No the developers are what's holding the game back it could be infinitely MORE successful than GW and WoW COMBINED
but unfortunately they just DO NOT get it.
The mobs can now whip your @$$ six ways to sunday now if they're even 1 lvl above you it takes a train car load of XP to go past 20 getting to 40
the 40s are free to roam about Holy Lands and stomp you into mush if they so choose.
For all the great things it ever did the current induced flaws have made tons of players run for the door.

The PVP isn't the problem it's the way the PVP is presented that is.
The Cash Shop isn't the problem either it's the constant need to go visit it should something go awry.

I think you'll probably find the turnout much sparser than originally estimated what with the massive quit rate they are experiencing due to the recent update and the GM's responses to it. There are reports of entire guilds quitting, and I've played it for the last time as well. Sad when a wonderful game goes down the tubes in so spectacular a manner. Might have been fun to talk with ya'll in game, but I won't be there.

Dont consider allods to be in the free category anymore cuz its not its F2P( Force 2 pay) because after u reach lvl 20 you cannot pvp you cannot kill monster your lvl and you cannot do any dungeon basicly you cant do anything unless you pay cash shop for incense so you can actually kill a monster your level and so on

I've played Allods since the open beta, it was great at first but then Patch (1.1.0) came out and it ruined the entire game.

Before Patch (1.1.0):

- PvP: Amazing! (Battles at the "Holy Lands" would last for hours, which means alliances are made, more people means bigger raids.)

- Class Balance: Moderate! (Few classes were a little bit more op then others but it all came down to the gears, plus incense.)

- Class Builds: Moderate! (Only certain specs could be built for PVP/PVE, but most are either PVP or PVE only.)

FORCE TO PAY FEATURE courtesy of allods (p2p):

- Incense System: Unmanageable! (Didn't last long enough, it's an CS item, 1 daily for 30 mins of PVP or Heroics.)

- Fear of Death: Unmanageable! (Lv40 = 51 mins | Should have been Lv40 = 4 mins, Myyrh was cheap, FoD was easy to get rid of.)

After Patch (1.1.0):

- PvP: Boring! (Die and you have a slight chance of getting cursed, need CS item to get rid of fast. No more Community world wars which were the BEST!)

- Class Balance: Unmanageable! (Highly unbalanced, no point in playing.)

- Class Builds: Unmanageable! (Classes got nerfed into to being a specific build, which makes it hard to make a good PVP/PVE)

FORCE TO PAY FEATURE courtesy of allods (p2p):

- Incense System: Unmanageable! (Lasts 24hrs but useless because you need it all the time which means you have to buy CS items.)

- Cursed Items. Unmanageable! (Slight chance to get cursed, need replacement gears to play or buy CS item, Myyrh costs more.)

OVERALL:

Allods is an Force to pay to play game. Only way to play this game for free is to farm items, which is boring and leads to hacks.
