I think it's all perspective, or lack there of. I will admit I like to get excited about the newest thing, but when the dust settles I do attempt to measure it against what has already been mentioned and be happy that -- hey, maybe I'm just getting WoW with lightsabers -- but does WoW have this incredible VO and dialogue system?

Sure, we have the traditional trinity, but is that bad? Personally, I'm not looking for an innovative game. I'm just looking for a really good one. I think if everyone were to be honest, WoW wasn't exactly innovative when it was released. It just did what was already there really really well. It was a polished working game when it was launched. Which was and still is groundbreaking. If Bioware can pull that off, I'll be happy.

I love to see people complaining about how STO has raids, battlegrounds and classes as if they were bad things. First of all, it's no easy game to completely innovate a genre, epecially a online game where you basically have to mantain a steady income, which means keeping a LOT of people interested, including casuals ; second, cut these things out and you'll hear the very same complaints about lack of raids, crafting and HT. Third, try to come up with some VALID alternatives; I assure you it's not that easy: you may be tired of certain elements in a MMO but they're still being considered for a reason: they work exceptionally well

some people will always criticize this game no matter how good it gets. Speaking for myself, I'm getting a lifetime the moment it pops up. It's Bioware, they never let me down, and it looks fantastic

Just a small point. SWG was far more similar to Ultima Online than EQ
