Friday's news of the Perils of Summer sale had some great deals, but it looks like Steam isn't done with MMO sales quite yet. The powers-that-be at Steam surprised players today with news of a sale on EVE Online.
Not just any sale, however; EVE Online: Tyrannis is priced at 90% off. Customers taking advantage of the sale will pay $1.99 for the full game and 30 days of free gameplay.
If you want in on this, you'll need to hurry, because this is one of Steam's "today only" sales, and you've got less than 24 hours to take advantage. Check out the sale page for EVE Online to purchase, and if you're not an MMO-only gamer, you may want to take a peek at all of their today-only sales.

As usual, the buddy trick applies here.
If you're looking to start a new account, send yourself a buddy invite, then use the $2 dollar steam deal to upgrade your trial to a full account.
30 days on your main, 51 on your new alt, all for only $2!

I should point out that CCP has declared this to be "a billing exploit".

For $2 it's worth taking a shot at getting a free month on your main account. I have been putting off getting my second account for some time. Even if it doesn't work, the second account will still have 30 days for only $2.
If it does work then that's a free month per account which equals 30 days x 2 for an awesome combined total game time of 60 days for only $2!

No, me either. Reading all I have on Massively, it sounds like the type of game that would give me a case of 'kill everything that lives'.

In 1 month you, if lucky, will realize that it will take you years to get a grip on this "Game", the trip will be long and difficult. EVE will not apologize once for being so, if you are a real PC Gamerâ„¢ and want the challenge, join us.

EVE is free after 6 to 9 months played, in any case.
So you only need to pay for 5 to 8 months with this offer, lol.

Even if you joined today, it would take 2+ years of training just to try and reach those whom have played since launch. The problem with training type games, is no matter what you do....you will never catch up.

Jeremiah.. the point is you don't have to. The difference in skill points (or character age) really doesnt have a detrimental effect like you might think. The skill system is different than a level based MMO and just because someone has 50million skill points versus someone with 10 million does not make them a better pilot. Obviously a lot of actual skill comes into play, but as everyone can do everything it really depends on how you specialize. You can quickly have an impact even with relatively low training. The main advantage for those who have been around since release is they will be able to jump into pretty much every aspect where as new players have to start by specializing more.
Once I understood the benefits of the skill training system I became a huge fan.
