I'm totally into League of Legends since weeks now.

Might pick up Global Agenda again though now they've announced making Conquest free for all.

Looking forward to LOCO too, this one looks very interesting.

LOCO sounded great.
"DoTA in 3D!" How could they mess something like that up?
Unfortunately, the designers of the game set about designing the game with the answer to that question in mind.
Had over 40 kills robbed from me in 5 games because of their retarded bubblehearthing as a standard feature. (press Z, become invulnerable for 10 seconds, then appear in your base...) and their skill immunity potions...

Just wow. It was so bad in closed beta. I can't believe they went through all of the trouble of making a really sweet platform in the unreal engine just to mess it up by making the game no fun to play for their core audience.

Loved LoL for a while, but then my performance rating started going through the roof and I haven't been able to have a match that lasts less than 50 minutes in weeks. That is getting old.

Waiting for some more info on Tian online. (http://tianyijue.com/)

Loved Valkyrie Sky. what was the acronym they used for it? SHMUPMMORPG
Shoot-em-up-massively-multiplayer-online-rpg.
It a whole lot of fun, and I can't remember why I stopped playing it.

Yea, really though, those skill immunity potions. Those make me rage.
makes somebody immune to skills for 20 seconds. On a 30 second cooldown.
That is right, 67% uptime on skill immunity.
That makes it more powerful than any PVP ability in WoW, and a far cry more powerful than anything in Heroes of Newerth, Icefrog's DoTA, League of Legends, and several other games.

Sure, you can buy a dispel scroll to counter those potions at roughly the same cost as those potions, but then they'll just hearth back to base with their bubblehearth once you start hitting them anyway.

I've been waiting for some announcement that they're going to remove those mechanics and actually balance the characters, but truth be told the STR/INT/AGI system from Warcraft 3 is pretty lame.

I still feel like Demigod got the short end of the stick. The release date i have for it says its been out a year, and its had 3 patches so far, and people keep telling me it has a lack of support. But its kind of hard to support a DRM free game for a community that was notorious for pirating warcraft 3 just so they could play DoTA. If all 200,000 people that played it on launch day had actually bought it, instead of the 20,000 legitimate customers and 180,000 pirates, would have been a different story. I wouldn't mind sitting down with the guys at GPG and pitching an intense hybrid model for Demigod 2. (or anybody else looking to break into that market)

Agreed. I just read about it and it does sound like something i'd love to try.

I like League of Legends and games in this genre. Have an extra key lying around?

Kyuss, read my post below.

Dispel Scrolls dispel all buffs from pots and accessories and most ability buffs, and debuffs for that matter (hit ctrl to target yourself).

Yes, it's strange coming from games like WoW that every player has access to ultra-powerful abilities through the shop menu, but that's exactly what makes LOCO balanced so well. ALL players have access to these items, ALL players can dispel them (and once you face high ranked players, you'll notice your immunities last all of 1 second unless you stack yourself with buffs, which you will want to do).

It's also what makes LOCO unique and gives it an extremely deep level of customization.
Want to turn your squishy mage into a tank? You can with accessories. Want to turn your tank into an unstoppable wrecking ball of death? If your team is doing well and you have the coin for it, you can!

Alaplaya should be paying me for this >.>

Ok, sure, it may be "balanced" because everybody has access to it,
but that doesn't make it any fun.

So many actual MMOs are so heavily instanced these days it's hard to tell the difference between them and a pseudo-MMO like Guild Wars. Log in to capital city, open instance queue, join instance. Nothing very massive or persistent about that.

There can only be one correct answer: Transformice!

Transformice is the best MMO of this year.

I don't care if it's instanced, and there is no persistence. If you're looking for a fun game with a hilarious community that's where it's at!

Best MMO of the year? I'd say Best Game of the Year...if not the Decade.

I had fun with Warrior Epic. Pangolans are cute :)
And call it pseudo-MMO because it's lobby based, so it feels much more like a multiplayer then an MMO. Not sure if that changed, but it is still a fun game for Diablo style players.

I've been playing Battle of the Immortals lately. It's isometric like Diablo, has the same vibe as titan quest (alot of mythology presented as monsters and areas) but in an MMo format. It's f2p with micro-trans but I'm still a little confused as to what I'd be buying. One of the coolest parts are the pets, any creature you fight can be your pet and every class can have them, you just gotta fight enough of them to where they become catchable. I have an imp for extra damage and some weird naga thing that refills my mana while I group. I've been having alot of fun with it. Scratches the itch for Diablo 3 and the itch for playing an MMO at the same time and I can pop in for an hour here and there and get some stuff done.

LOCO Land of Chaos Online.

Oh my GOD! Haven't been so into an online game since I don't know when.

Here's some tips from a fairly pro player (moi):

Newbs are gonna cry about a few things:

Immunity pots and items in general. LOCO is an item-centric game. It's hard for MMO players to fathom this at first, but the combat and overall strategy of the game revolves around farming coin for, managing and using consummables and accessories. Hint: Immunity pots can be (and should ALWAYS be) dispelled with dispel scrolls.

Very Mary Bell and Minity Gray: A few heroes seem extremely overpowered to new players because countering them relies on items (and a little know-how) that you absolutely MUST have to stand a chance. Because people are reluctant to adapt to the item-centric play style, they don't buy the recommended items and get owned. It's actually an EXTREMELY well balanced game once you know what you're doing.

Apply on the website for the upcoming stress test weekend, and keep an eye out for open beta. This game is CRACK!

Just out of curiosity, why have an item that grants immunity and another item that dispels that item for the same cost? It seems like it'd be more straightforward to just remove those items if they are absolutely required for every single player to carry. If every player has to carry immunity pots and dispel scrolls in spades, they don't actually balance anything, they just counteract each other.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, I'm actually asking.

That's not a bad question.

It was fun in beta because (and I'm about to sound kind of douchey, but I'll attribute it to human nature) everyone was low ranked, but skill levels varied wildly. So those who knew to spam the crap out of items were often matched with those who hadn't figured that out yet. So facing players who would use dispel scrolls was somewhat rare at first.

Once higher ranked players started being matched together, yes, the dispel spam did seem a little... silly? Use invincible brooch, it's dispelled, use immunity pot, it's dispelled, speed buff, dispelled, etc, etc...
The dispel scrolls don't necessarily cancel everything else out though (though they are on a very short cool down). You can, and should, try to fake out players, forcing them to dispel redundant, or superfluous buffs. Or stack buffs so they have a lot of dispel spamming to do to get rid of them all.

The whole item-centric gameplay seems like it initially came about as a lazy fix to too-high burst damage and general imbalance.
Like I said, the result was unique, very balanced for a PvP game and very fun.
How it will play out in the long run, though, remains to be seen.

League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth are the BOMB.

BTW for those of you who do not know what Heroes of Newerth is it is similar to LoL as in 3D DoTA but more Hardcore than LoL and less forgiving (aka ... more fun or more frustration depending on case)

I play LoL almost daily, especially for the 1st win of the day bonuses. Other than that, APB early access starts tomorrow (woot!), and I'll be hooked on that for the forseeable future.

Seriously? Come on! The only thing that makes a MMO an MMO is other people to play with, a large sand box and a empty wallet. No such thing as a psuedo MMO. Lame topic.
