I have to say -- I did the Champions trial and found it to be a very fun game that seemed more polished than, say, CoH (both in terms of graphics -- which it should be, given that it's newer, but also in terms of mouse control... I really, really don't like how CoH feels with a mouse. It feels 'backwards,' if that makes any sense... and I like playing my MMOs with my mouse, not keyboard, so that matters to me).

I have absolutely no faith in Cryptic for a deep game that could satisfy me for years, but buying the game for essentially $7 and a free month? I'd do that, and maybe sub for a few more months, though I doubt I'd actually stick with it. Cryptic would be much better off if they turned their games into full-scale FTP. They'd lose all the hate... and their games, instead of being less than what people would expect coming from a sub MMO, would be more than people would expect from a cash/shop 'freemium' MMO. But, that Steam deal is a pretty good one. Champions really is very pretty and fun, even if not deep.
