Following the unscheduled extended downtime caused by the recent EVE Online server move, CCP Games has promised to reimburse players for the lost play time with a small pool of additional skill-points that they can distribute any way they like. CCP went on to hint that they'd been working on a different gift for all players, a cryptic remark that had players both excited and bewildered. In a new devblog, CCP Zinfandel outlined exactly what this gift will be and how players can claim it.
To be released on the 29th of June, the Primae joins the ranks of the Apotheosis and Zephyr as another one-time gift ship delivered to all EVE players. Supplied free of charge by NPC industrial corporation Outer Ring Excavations, the Primae is a ship designed to help in planetary industry. This lightweight hauler features a low signature radius and significant hit-point buffer, making it a more defensible ship with which to haul materials between planets. To ensure it doesn't displace its paper-thin industrial cousins in the general hauling scene, the majority of the ship's cargo space is reserved for planetary equipment and processed materials. Two special bays able to hold only those materials ensure that the ship remains a tool for the planetary industrialists among us. For more details on the Primae and how to claim it after June 29th, read the latest EVE devblog.

Ooooh nice freebie, this'll be good to start my planet plundering life with!

It's funny. Although I recently quit playing for what I hope is the last time, I've been reading the World of Warcraft forums about the nightmare that is patch 3.3.5. (Lots of glitches for 64-bit systems, the huge downtime following the patch, and numerous other issues.)
While Blizzard has been absolutely stalwart in their refusal to offer any kind of reimbursement to players, you look at a company like CCCP who is going overboard to court their players and you just have to recognize that there's a real benefit to players when companies are small and hungry. When a company gets so huge, as with Blizzard, I really think they lose the personal touch that so many people appreciate and crave.
Even though I don't play, nor plan on playing EVE, I have to applaud CCCP's approach. Definitely a company to keep an eye on if they make plans for other games in the MMO genre.

Oh wow, that's actually really neat. Not only do you get SP - BUT you get a ship as well. I was honestly expecting nothing more than an apology so this is rather cool of CCP. I'd take stuff like this over a refund anyday.

The SP reimbursement is really cool, and while the ship-gift is nice, it's unfortunately going to suffer the problem as any other one-off ship gift. The eve base of griefers will be flocking to any of these ships, just to suicide gank it to piss somebody off. So they won't ever actually be used for anyone that wants to keep the ship.
But the SP reimbursement is really cool at least, props for that.

Unfortunately this is very true. My Zephyr has never left the station even once. I was too afraid of suicide griefers. I hope CCP will allow players to get the Primae through other means, like seeding the ship or its blueprints on the market.

It's really going to depend on how you can fit the ship. The dev blog is saying that it's well armored. If it does have two special bays with fixed space in them (like the orca's ship, hangar and ore bays), you may be able to forgo cargo expanders in the lows, and focus on armor tanking or avoidance (via warp core stabs). If it has a high slot, you can drop a cloaking device, and have an a reasonably good chance of keeping it in one piece in empire (and possibly low sec).
I'm planning to give it a test run after I see the fitting information (if it can reasonably survive). All of the free ships that I've gotten from CCP have not had any fitting slots, so they're much easier prey for griefers. This one may actually be useful.

Personally, I'll be using the ship. I have my Zephyr on standby in our wormhole station in case we get killed while running any wormhole sites. Since the ship doesn't get targetted by Sleeper NPCs, it can be used to collect any modules that are 10m3 or less from ship wrecks. After a collossal screw-up involving warping three capital ships into a Class 5 anomaly at the same time and watching them all focus fire, that came in pretty handy.
This new ship might be very handy if it's made defensible enough to stand up to suicide attacks. Enough hitpoints would really do the trick, and since it's restricted mainly to PI materials, they can afford to give it huge HP without making it inherently better than standard industrials.

I really hope the playerbase raises holy hell until they create a BPO for this hull. One-off ships like this are kinda cool for about five minutes, then they stay in the hangar, never to be flown again. Such a waste.

Yay for CCP, the BEST MMO company on the planet.
Thanks for the SP and nice trophy ship, going to park it in Mies right next to my Zephyr.

Iv been a long time player of eve, and supporter of CPP .. played for 5 years actually. In limbo... for now
Its "the little things" like this IMO help foster player loyalty and shows that they actually care about its players.
Unfortunately I had to cancel both my accounts due to the urge to play it too much when i have more important things to do like getting my bachelor
The MMO industry needs more developers like CCP... free expansions, adherence to the core vision of the game, and a general respect for your clientel will go MUCH further than large budget highly over hyped game full of empty promises, like war hammer.
Rock on CCP, Rock on
