As everyone knows in the television business, the second season of a show is usually tons better than the first (unless it's Heroes, for some reason). Considering how well Star Trek Online's Season One update was received across the community, the STO team has a lot of work to do to meet and exceed that standard with the upcoming Season Two. Cryptic plans to roll out one of these bigger updates every three months, which puts Season Two smack in the middle of July.
ZAM caught executive producer Craig Zinkievich on the way to his ready room for a chat about Season Two. The big discussion revolves around the launch of the Federation Diplomatic Corps, an effort to provide an additional emphasis on exploration, diplomacy and anthropology that STO's combat-centric gameplay has so far been lacking. Apparently, players will have to rise through the diplomatic ranks almost like a separate leveling system as they engage in first contacts and the like. We'll just have to wait and see if they introduce a "lengthy patronizing Picard-style speech" as one of the skills.
Zinkievich also pontificated on ship interiors and the new Dabo minigame, both of which are much-requested features to help Star Trek Online feel more, well, Trekky. You can get your captain on by reading the full interview over at ZAM.

The Space Hippies episode of The Original Series was the best.
That's the only reason I posted. I really dislike STO.

To cover the topic, the inept devs running STO are not going to implement anything worthwhile in a couple months, STO is a failure.
Now for the important stuff......The hippy episode was indeed among the best of the original star trek, so campy and corny and fun all at the same time.

It's funny, everything I see that's in season 1 and soon season 2, were basic features many were expecting to be there at launch.
It's even funnier seeing how they are bragging about Klingon's getting a bunch of content in season 2, but the sad thing is they aren't, they're getting the basic features that Klingon's launched without and have been missing for close to 6 months. Sorry, but the majority of players who wanted to play Klingon's at launch, left a long time ago.

Rofl! I was one of those who wanted to play Klingon at launch. I couldn't even stomach the Beta, let alone stick around for launch!

I know how sci-fi shows will show you some crazy fad that is going on at the time and assume that it will still be around later. Buck Rogers and disco?

" Considering how well Star Trek Online's Season One update was received across the community, the STO team has a lot of work to do to meet and exceed that standard with the upcoming Season Two."
This is bad journalism. How on earth did the author come to the conclusion that the "season One was well received across the community". On the contrary, Season one was lackluster, underwhelming, and buggy... and MOST of the community thinks this. I've been an active part of the STO community since 2008 and have seen its ebb and flow through all its intricacies and intimacies.
As it is, people "across the community" are telling each other "not to get their hopes up too high" for season 2, as there is a probable chance that it may serve to disappoint even more so than Season 1.
