I think that might be the case.

This does not read as PR damage control.

There was that Kotick a**hat on the news first. Then Silirrion came to our rescue. Whatever i may think of AoC, this guy will always be one of my favs in this industry.

Morrison has already saved AoC and it's on the up and up since Rise of the Godslayer. The "blah blah blah" comment is pretty unfounded and it shows that you didn't really follow this developer at all.

Yea well I'm sorry.

One could say I'm bit of a FC fan.

But they botched this one up.
2 days into the expansion and haven't played since.
Its just too boring.

I miss Gaute.

Morrison is on the right track. AoC has turned a new leaf with him at the steering wheel. It is a good game now. I like the expansion.

I am really curious to see how the engine upgrade will go and what it will focus on in detail, such as using quad processors. I want to go with an i7 or will my old q6600 finally get to shine?

I am also wondering if we will receive any updates for new dungeons or game systems this year?

Thats gonna be an awsome "MMO" game that gives i7 users the best game perfomance while all others are lagging in the dirt. Hey... you and the 10 others that bother ... hope you have enough money to pay the same as the 40.000 subs that the game will loose.

Get a clue what MMOs are about.

But I also wonder... has massively every reported from the AOC when fans are pointing out the blatantly obvious - like an entire server lagging to death for 3 months... without Funcom even replying ? Nope - did not see this website bring that issue up...

AoC is a good game and ROTGS is a good expansion but why the hell they don`t fix the lagspikes on Crom? Each time there are an influx of players, the server become a lagfest with whole raid hitting 4800ms or players getting it at random 3880ms in the open world.

Ok... let me point out the blatantly obvious. Funcom does not have funds to really support AOC like - for example Blizzard is doing with WOW. Thus.. they will have to make just few improvements - few new things with every payed for expansion - while quite a big part of the game income is going into OTHER games that the company is trying to release.

AOC is slowly loosing the playerbase again after the expansion release. There is yet again nothing happening cause there is no more money around for AOC at the time... now Funcom will put all effort into TSW and leave AOC fans starving for the next 12-15 months. But hey.... thats MMOs for you.

'miss Gaute'? What a lot of bullshit.

It was under Gaute that an unfinished product was released and he made a LOT of promises he couldn't keep. That's why he had to go.
I recommend Morrison for keeping his cool in that linked thread, even despite the complete asshole that the OP of that thread is.

I didn't know him before, but he's doing a good job, leading his team in gradually improving the game with all kinds of updates, new content like the new zones (Ymir's Pass was great), and now the expansion.
Expansion had a very good, solid launch, saw a lot of old faces returning and new ones joining. The new content in Khitai is great, love what they did with the different style of dungeons.

I hope they can keep up the good work, it took a while but it seems they're on the right track now.

Ok, let me point out the blatantly obvious. Daedalon, you're going on your anti-AoC rant again as you've been doing for ages on these forums. You want SO desperately for AoC and Funcom to fail for whatever petty reason, that it must really, REALLY hurt you that it's still around and that it's doing well and that it had a good launch of its expansion that was generally received well.
Well, prepare for some more hurt to come your way, because AoC won;t go away for a loooong time, and as you can read in the link provided in this article, Morrison mentioned they've all kinds of things planned for AoC's future, of which the very recent future will already see a PvP update and a ranger class update.

But hey... that's MMOs for you, you'll always have those MMO haters in life that has made it their mission in life to keep trashing a game and company as long as they breathe. Good luck with that :-)

Well - some companise do a "better" job of cheating gamers out of a proper game. We will always be around to remember those that forget.

Im not a MMO hater - I love MMOs. I on the other hand hate developers that fail in their quest to make a good game - and hide it from the gamers - with not lifting NDA - with pre-order campaigns and closing their official forums to public viewing to prevent gamers to know what is really going on. Those sort of companies are those that we dont want in the buisness. Funcom is one of them. They have already paid the price with loosing most of their playerbase after failed launch. Im not at all intrested in the expansion and it seems that most feel the same way. And those that did - have stopped playing acording to Xfire stats.

Hmmm... funny. XFire numbers and ingame population counts are still a lot higher compared to a few months ago, still up to double with half a year ago. I guess math is not everyone's strong point.

The irony is, I dislike cheating and greedy companies too, and I found the original AoC launch major fail.
Unlike you and others like you my opinion of people as well as companies isn't etched in stone: I downgraded my major adoration of Blizzard that I had 5+ years ago after seeing what routes they're taking the last few years, and Funcom has redeemed themselves in my eyes somewhat, with the good content and updates for AoC the last 2 years, the relatively smooth launch of the fun expansion, and the general attitude of the game director Morrison (compare that with a Derek Smart).

It's enough to give me a present although wary confidence that Funcom might make something interesting with a TSW, especially with Tornquist (The Longest Journey, Dreamfall) on the helm

Thing is... this is not the first MMO that Funcom releases. The launch of AO was equaly bad - that was 9 years ago. The game is now a free to play title with under 5k playerbase...

Nothing did change in those 9 years at Funcom. They used exaclty the same tactic. No lifting of NDA - closed forums - fix after ppl pay...

We are now going into the 3rd MMO release and so far there are no signs of any changes.

Actually - I can do the math. Xfire numbers have dropped over 50% in the past month and from over 2200 users down to 950. We are now into the second month of subs after the expansion and it seems like not everyone is gonna be continuing the subs. We can not say exactly how big % - but we can safely say that there is quite alot of players quitting.

And again - now the waiting will start. Graig claims that there are seperate teams working on their MMo titles. But the fact is that is still one company that will control the content flow on what other games from the company are doing. Funcom will not send out new expansion the same day as TSW is coming out. And it seems TSW is the next in line... be that in 6-12 months. Until then we can expect AOC to be starved of content - or some new grinds beeing added.

You're a big, cheating liar, and this proves it. Me and some others kept track of the XFire figures almost daily the last few months for another debate (ie how do ingame population counts and XFire numbers relate, and what does it say about XFire?), and the figures were NEVER 2200 in that period. They were ca 1500 at its peak. If they settle around 500 as it was a few months back, then you can say that the expansion's increase has died down, but so far XFire figures (however unreliable they may be) as well as ingame population counts say differently.
And yes, of course there's a peak and then a gradual decrease: that's what happens with an expansion launch!

Now be gone, liar. Bah, people who use lies to fuel their hate rants disgust me.

There are more than you that are taking notes of Xfire stats - 2164 is the highest number of AOC accounts acording to my stats. Considering that there was a huge AOC xfire giveaway - That is alot less than I expected.

Find official stats about Xfire m8. Its easy enough to verify the truth instead of calling ppl liars.

I was tempted to buy AoC:RotGS having not played the game since 3 months after launch. But after realizing It'd cost me twice as much to reactivate my account than to abandon my level 80 Guardian and other characters I passed.Seems like Funcom doesn't want to win back the subs they lost..they are only hoping for new ones.
