Someone help me out here, I thought this was the guy who wrote those god awful and completely uninformative producer letters, but turns out that is a different person. What did this old boy do?

Looks like WAR is assuming the pose of DAOC. SOE is minimizing overhead costs and milking the profits from their investment until they don't get a positive return on the investment.

SOE has nothing to do with Mythic. Mythic is owned by EA.

This thread demonstrates all too clearly how so much comment on the internet is founded on ignorance.

This guy did not jump! He was let go by EA Mythic, not SOE! It may or may not be said to have implications for the future of WAR given that no-one here actually knows what the guy did!

My guess is now that Carrie Gouskos is the Producer on WAR, they simply didn't need another Producer on the roster. This tells me that Mythic probably doesn't have another project in the works at the moment, or Drescher would be on it.

I do enjoy Warhammer and Josh was one of those people I did like hearing from. Especially since he's one of the only people talking. Sad he had to get laid off and not Paul. Paul was a huge PR asset, then they shut his mouth down since he was writing checks he couldn't cash.

This is what happens when you are own by one of the big boys (EA, Activision) and don't live up to the hype. Heck, they'll cut you even if you are half-way successful.

How does this mean the end of WAR? Huge patches are happening, bugs getting squashed, class balancing happening, population returning and subs are up. The game is in a healthier state that 3 months after launch.

To the person saying Josh was the only one talking about WAR I'm afraid you are wrong. I would go so far as to say we hear less from him than any other producer/dev.

Carrie has been the voice of Mythic since she took over.

I still don't get this concept and maybe someone can help me understand: Why do people pray for the death of a game they don't play?

For example: I think DnD online is a horrible mess of a game but I leave it at that. If people enjoy it want to play the game let them.

Anyway............

What are you talking about? He was in almost every single production podcast starting about a year before the game came out.

The population isn't nearly as large as it was 3 months after launch, you're kidding yourself there. MAYBE on your server but the game as a whole? No way. The "patches" that are happening are patches that they promised a YEAR ago. I don't know how long it takes to create a new look for certain armor sets but a year is probably a bit long don't ya think?

RvR weapons helped take away from open RvR since you need SC's to get them. They neutered half the game to "focus" combat. And the bugs were never what killed the game for people. Sorry but the game is pretty much maintenance mode and won't be getting a ton of funds to fix what needs fixed to make the game popular. Healthier? I'd say not. By the time they get their patches done it will be time for SWTOR.

As for Josh. He was one of the 4 main people(Jeff, Josh, Paul, Mark) talking to everyone about the game. He was very active on the forums along with Mark. So basically he was one of the 4 voices of Warhammer. What ended up happening is WAR flopped and all 3 of them were told to shut up(hear anything from Paul lately?). So those 4 also became the faces of failure. So EA told them to shut it, fired Mark as a gesture towards the players that changes were happening. Then they promote Carrie to once again show change.

People want WAR to die for three main reasons. 1. They bought into the propaganda that the aforementioned 4 voices spread and were heavily disappointed; it dying is revenge. 2. They want another Warhammer(not 40k) game and that cannot happen until WAR dies. 3. They think their current MMO is better and what more people to play it so they put WAR down.

If you like WAR and/or are having fun then good for you...BUT don't be unrealistic about what's happening and what can happen with that game or the state its in.

Hmm - Maybe we should get down to earth and realise that no new content has been added to WAR for close to 1 and a half year now ? Changing stuff ingame - like they done in capital cities (that btw alot of ppl dont like going down to 24 vs 24) - does not add anything. It just changes it.

WAR has been in a huge pile of mess since LOTD was released. There is zero vision for the game. Noone in charge. And the only solutions that the team has come up with is cutting out different systems.

WAR is a free to play title. It NEVER had the quality to do anything more.

They should have spent less time TALKING about how great the game is going to be and more time actually MAKING the game great.

Still to this day I have a hard time wrapping my head around the concept of screwing up so badly when you have such an amazing IP to work with.

@Toothball

Yes before the game came out he was. In the past several months, since Carrie has been producer, he has been noticably quiet. In fact, I just assumed he was working on another project.

So are you saying he has been writing the past several months producers letter? He hasn't written a newsletter or prodeucers letter in months. Prior to May's produciton podcast he hadn't been in a video podcast since October of last year.
