You DO know that:

1) the title is tentative/temporary.
2) "Swordsman" is the "official" English name for the "Smiling Proud Wanderer"/"Laughing Proudly in the Pugilistic World" novel.

The book is known in English either as State of Divinity, Swordsman or The Smiling, Proud Wanderer.the original chinese title pretty much means "living a carefree life in a mundane world of strife.' The novel is critically acclaimed and widely recognized world-wide.

"Swordsman" title defines the "main character" of the novel, a happy-go-lucky orphan who just so happens to stumble upon martial arts master and learn one of the most dangerous swordplay styles, "Nine Swords of Dugu". Strangely those newfound skills only make his life harder as the main clans in the world begin to think that his swordsman skills originate from recently stolen high-quality swordplay manual(which is written in such a difficult to comprehend way that most of characters dismiss the manuscript as some sort of random foolish song)

A samurai in China wouldn't have lasted very long. But his head would have looked great on a warlord's wall.

Combat looks fun...it's just hard to get excited about the launch of another F2P game.

No kidding. And another F2P by Perfect World, at that. I'd have more confidence in their games if they focused on one and made it excellent. My hope for the Torchlight MMO is fading rapidly.

what you fail to realize is that PWE has more than one team. Separate people are working on all the upcoming mmorpg and company, by its current size, could produce at least ~9 games at once.

@Unknown... I haven't failed to realize all companies have more than one team. However, there's a perception issue when you're churning out one F2P title after another. There are now almost as many F2P Eastern-grind-titles as iPhone apps.

I bet Blizzard could pump out a ton of MMOs every year too, but they don't because they're... not retarded.

So instead of 1 or 2 fantastic MMOs, PWE has a bajillion mediocre (at best) MMOs, most with tiny playerbases. Most are nearly identical gameplay wise.

BoI appears to have one of the most popular open betas I've ever participated in, but with low estimates at $30/month minimum to maintain viability end game (that doesn't include 1-time buys like bags and pet stuff), it's ramping up to be one of the most expensive MMOs, which will turn people away from it with time.

idk PWE has gotta be the most bewildering developer/publisher/whatever company around.

Don't get your hopes up, they officially announced the Closed Beta will be this Winter. Not release, not open beta, but closed beta. So for people who got keys in March, have fun waiting another 6 months! v.v

I am a bit confused as to why they are making a game that would seem to directly compete with another one of their games,Heroes of the Three Kingdoms due out in August for closed beta.

Heroes of Three Kingdoms has been a very, very old game though. It only being translated into English recently. This Swordsman is a total new game.

Looks good, the music is sort of off, but it could have been worse. Pretty locations. I'm desperately looking for an MMO set in an asian/chinese setting that isn't painful to play... Hope this is the one, even though the way PWE is releasing new MMOs more frequently than i clean my room is not very encouraging.

I'll play this because Swordsman II was one of the coolest movies I've ever seen. Jet Li and Bridget Lin at their best. If they can keep it true to that vision and the novels of Louis Cha I'll pay for it.

What I'd love to see now is somebody get a Pili puppet drama mmo going. Somebody in Taiwan needs to step up to the plate on that.
