wait, LotRO is going ftp, a new faction trailer for JE, and upcoming E3 excitement is so think at the studio you could eat it with chopsticks... and those are the comments that have been posted so far?

on topic, the Turbine move is mildly surprising... until you factor in their recent acquisition by Warner Bros. then it's like, "oh, sure... that makes sense now." they made a very lucrative move with DDO, a game which had one foot (up to the chin) in the grave, so let's do the exact same thing with our other franchise, even though it's nowhere near extinction like DDO was and we'll likely piss off what's left of our playerbase by doing so. Warner Brothers strikes again.

ps - glad i got out of LotRO when i did... it was fun while it lasted.

yeah - those are all discussed in different articles.. I'm burnt out trying to talk about the LotRO issue; in reality it kind of pissed me off how they glossed over it and just said "other developers take note" - personally I think this item shop/ DLC is a plague on the industry and it really feels like these companies wanting to to implement this crap have the full support of the media while trying to shove it down our throats. There's really no official dissenting opinion here or anywhere else when, say Cryptic pulls stuff that was available in beta and throws it in an item shop at launch.
All we hear is - "with item shops, developers will add more content," but what I see is all of these companies releasing anemic products and then charging you again to fill them up with content that's already done.
