Realtime Worlds has announced a delay in their Key to the City end-of-beta promotion. The teaser event, designed to give prospective players a taste of life on the crime-ridden streets of San Paro, features five hours of action district gameplay and unlimited social district gameplay.
In a news post just released on the All Points Bulletin website, game creator Dave Jones outlines the reasons for the hiccup. "We've worked tirelessly to bring the service online, installing and configuring a massive amount of new hardware in our data-centres, to help meet the high demand and bring you the best experience we can. As we're sure you'll appreciate, this is a huge undertaking and unfortunately on this occasion, we've hit a number of installation delays," he says.
The event is currently scheduled to take place starting at 9:00am EDT on Saturday, June 12th.

The closed beta was supposed to end on the 6th, but they ended it prematurely on the 4th, so I guess they predicted that they would need more time to work on the servers. I wish them best of luck and hope the delay won't be major.

I was looking forward to it, but as with most MMOGs, delays are par for the course. Kind of a sad fact of life: they all over-promise and under-deliver.

Not totally unexpected, but naturally a bit annoying. I wonder if the end date for the KTTC event will still be the same of if it will be extended. Unlikely but possible. Still looking forward to giving this a shot this weekend. More likely than not playing around with the character creator for kicks (as all chars for this event will be wiped) will occupy a bit of my time as I learn how to use the thing.

Rumor has it that missions are not balanced and wont be in this title. Rumor has it that the game is going to release with what devs call "acceptable" gameplay, which translated means you go on a mission with your starter weapon and try to engage your target whom has a weapon 5 levels above you, no need to explain outcomes, the name of the title should not be APB, but should be FARM CITY INC.
Thats just a rumor though.

I would also like to clarify that there really isn't "levels" like you might be accustomed to in, let's say, World of Warcraft. I don't know where you heard about that.
The game hinges greatly on skill, while having a better weapon can help you some; in the long run what will win you the missions is your own ability to aim and strategize.

Aaaaaaand...another strike against APB. I, along with many other beta players, absolutely hated both the N-TEC rifle and the weapon mods due to overpowering, and only one of those issues was fixed (I don't think it's all that hard to guess which). The game has amazing customization on all fronts, but it seems that the rest of the game took backseat to making you feel unique.
Great. I feel unique. I feel alive. Why doesn't the world?
