I just hope PS3 and PC get to play on the same servers.

Skip to 3 mins. Technically it's possible. In their closed beta they have PC and PS3 players playing together. But for "business" reasons they're not sure if that'll be possible in the live version.

Definitely this game will be good. I just wonder when beta will be out. If the game is going to be released in November, that gives them only 4-5 months or so to run a beta - that worries me a little bit.

I can't help but notice that despite its "action game" roots, the characters mainly just stand toe to toe and move their upper bodies punching each other.

Maybe I am just expecting too much.

Honestly I think Champions will still be better in terms of customization and game play and the DC IP does zero for me.

If Champions Online has better gameplay then shoot me now because that game is awful.

Champions Online has great customization, but when designing their skill system they forgot the cardinal rule: Choices need to matter and have consequences. The skill system they have now is too free form and allows you to choose the best of the best from everything with no downsides, meaning why would you ever replay it once you found the optimal skill set for your play style.

Skill synergies (positive reinforcement) and Power Inefficiencies (Negative reinforcement) added could go a long way towards fixing whats broken with Champions Online.

Lets Hope DCUO has a versatile system but you can't be the best at everything.

Interesting you mentioned that, David...when CO was first been talked about in the pre-Atari days, there where going to put in a feature where you had to design your character's weakness. This was to balance out the unlimited choices you had in power selections. If ever implemented, CO would been a very different game than it is today. One that's much more complicated and challenging in a good way..and certainly unique to many MMO's out there. I guess they wanted something bring in the fast bucks instead. /sigh

The pen and paper RPG actually had disadvantages that you could use to pay for more powers. You could be afraid of spiders or have some other phobia to balance out your points, or be blind. That would be an interesting MMO idea.

I agree with you David, and especially in PvP you saw this. People all cherry-picked the same powers and same builds, and there was no real benefit for staying within a concept or framework.

Champions Online? That thing can't compare to CoH. I don't like the style/look of CO. It may have way more options when doing character customization but the style of the pieces isn't that great and most of them stink. It's like I'm watching THE INCREDIBLES. I am so done with CO. Anyone hanging on to the CO game is likely stuck there with a lifer subscription.

CoH is just getting tired. They really haven't given us anything exciting to do in a long time and they are lacking innovation. Mission Architect is a brilliant idea but was poorly implemented into the game (the arrogance and ignorance of the Devs caused them to turn a blind eye to our feedback).

Anyway, DCUO looks amazing and I can't wait. I think this game will kill CoH and likely be the final nail in CO's coffin.

Am I the only one who thinks that the animations couldn't be anymore stiff or non-existing? I'm a great fan of Batman, Superman and such, but this game looks extremely crappy, sorry

I thought the exact same thing; the trademark characters look stiff and blocky, not very appealing or impressive. The city looks beautiful though. I hope the animations are just a product of early development.

I probably wouldn't have any interest in this game if it weren't for the PS3 version. If the two versions are playing on the same server and I don't need to buy the game twice though I'd give it a shot even though I don't care for superheroes.

Is the setting for this game only going to take place in a city?

I still just see an aimless free-for-all; A poorly animated one at that. I can't even tell who's winning.
