It never fails. You've got everything sorted out just fine, and then out of nowhere -- bam! It's an owl. Laugh all you want, but if you're a field mouse or possibly a vole, this a serious problem for you. And while we feel for our readers frequently plagued by owl attacks, we're afraid that we can't help you too much, as we've all got our own problems to deal with. Assuming you classify "going back to older games" under the "problem" category.
Yes, it's time for another WRUP for the week, and this week is marked by returning to old favorites, taking a look through the older parts of our gaming libraries, or even returning to the too-long-forgotten act of making sure the house doesn't collapse. Click on past the break for a look into what the crew is playing this week. (Owls not included.)
Beau Hindman (@spouseaggro): I will be organizing some trade routes in some of my favorite games. In Mabinogi, I will be gathering, transporting and selling a certain item and will map it out, complete with stops for night time/weather. In WURM Online I am seeing if I can find a town that needs some veggies to sell, and will grow, transport and sell them there. It's part of my Immersion Project, a set of rules that I use that dictates how I play. Sounds nuts, I know, but it's a blast to get involved with the world like that.
Brendan Drain (@nyphur): I'm sitting down to a relaxing weekend of mining in our little wormhole system in EVE Online. We had a nice gravimetric site spawn in the system full of ore, which makes a welcome diversion now and then. I'll probably also find myself glued to Heroes of Newerth and talking everyone I know into playing Lord of the Rings Online once it goes free to play. Micro-transaction based content delivery is an exciting prospect that I'd love to see work in more games.
Brianna Royce: I was coaxed back to Star Wars Galaxies this week (so much for my break!); my first order of business there is tex-modding the eye-sporky diner my poor chef has to work in. And I'm still touring Guild Wars late at night with some guildies!
Dan O'Halloran: Still enjoying the EQ2 Halas Reborn content patch immensely. Ran my new Barbarian Troubador through it and now must decide if I want to continue leveling him through the rest of the game. Also got my Fury started on Kunark content. Only 3 expansions behind now!
On my iPhone, still playing WizardBlox from Wizard101 and discovered the simple pleasures of the non-MMO app Fruit Ninja as well as the very fun Mech shooter 2360: Battle for Cydonia.
Eliot Lefebvre: Amazon recently had a bit of a sale on Guild Wars -- and I had a lot of saved-up gift credits. So I'm going to be enjoying a game I haven't played since before the first expansion with all of the expansions in place, as well as gearing up for the Thursday-night runs this coming week. I'm also going to enjoy the new backpack one of my spiders has acquired on City of Heroes, and with a departed friend set to return in Star Trek Online I really should give some time to that as well.
Justin Olivetti (@sypster): Seeing as how there's only a couple days left for the DDO loot promotion, I'll probably be spending the weekend leveling up my bard to 6. Other than that, I'm enjoying my initial foray into Star Wars Galaxies (I'm Lando's Co-Pilot! That guy!) and will probably clock a bit of LOTRO.
Larry Everett (@shaddoe): This weekend's gaming event will be a new (for me) MMO that was released a few years back called Real Life. It is kind of like Second Life, but with better graphics. In this MMO, I will tackle monsters like the Houz Cleenling, Gross Surries, and Chill Dren. All the Honey-Dew faction I will gain this weekend will help me avoid the dreaded Spouse Aggro. Perhaps to make this weekend's trip through this MMO more internet interactive, I will twitter my progress. Keep an eye out; it will be exciting!
Lisa Poisso (@emused): I'm tossing anything in the Computer Stuff bin that hasn't been used in more than a year to the wolves with a garage sale this weekend. (Mmm, early-morning donut runs ...) Our recycling bin is literally filled with MMO game boxes and guides that nobody's ever glanced at -- now, all the jewel cases fit politely into a single organizer bin. Then I'm going to sit back and enjoy spreading my stuff out onto those fresh, empty shelves!
Patrick Mackey (@mackeypb): I'm not doing too much exciting this weekend. My Xbox 360 broke again, and is being sent back for repairs. This week, my players are dealing with the awful repercussions of a previous adventure, which is pretty fun. I'll be on some in Champions, but I don't know how much time I'll be spending there until Serpent Lantern goes live.
Seraphina Brennan (@sera_brennan): This weekend is all about one thing -- my computer. My ID got the better of me, and I ended up purchasing a brand new Alienware Aurora. It was either buying that (with 200 dollars off and no interest for a year) or purchase a new motherboard, video card, ram, and a new version of windows. I think I totally made the better decision.
So what will I be playing? Everything, with a particular focus on Champions Online, Age of Conan, and EverQuest II. I want to run this baby into the ground just to see how fast she can push it.
And now, the eternal question: when you aren't hiding under fallen tree branches to avoid owls, what are you going to be playing this weekend? Let us know in the comments, and perhaps even ask us a question to answer in the next week's edition!

I will prolly just be playing RDR and maybe a few other PS3 games I haven't played in a while. Sadly I won't be able to play any EVE Online sense I found out the my laptop (a Dell XPS M1530) has a defunct graphics card and I need to deal with dell tech support and get a replacement. *shutters at the thought of dell tech support*

I have an itch to try the free trial of either SWG or EQ2, but I can't force myself to download either...maybe the fact that they are both pretty old games is making me hesitate. I own SWG retail and played for a year from launch, and I don't know if I want to corrupt my extremely fond memories of the time I spent there.
I will probably just stick to Age of Conan and level my 53 Barbarian and 52 Guardian (on Cimmeria) a bit, since I'm paying to play it. I am absolutely loving that game, and I'm glad I made the investment back in November (although I didn't start subscribing until ROTG released).
I also am very curious about the Aion 1.9 patch, it's already downloaded on my system, but I don't know if I can convince myself to re-sub. I really enjoyed Aion, and I don't have a problem grinding in any game; I tend to play solo until level cap anyway, and I've always found, for me personally, that the ride to the cap in any MMORPG has been much more satisfying than actually getting to end-game and trying to find stuff to do--I'm also an altaholic, so I tend to have a few 'mains' at once in every game. The exception being WoW, where I had a good guild, and good friends (pre-WOTLK) to pvp and raid with.
So many games out there worth playing, but not enough time. :(

Brendan (and anyone else, for that matter), I see you're in to Heroes of Newerth, and I've heard good things, but have you tried League of Legends?
I know I keep plugging it, but it really is a phenomenal little game, and their F2P model is perfect. You don't have to spend a penny to be competitive and just as capable as anyone else, yet they do such a great job with new heroes and skins that you'll be itchin' to drop a few bones in no time.
I can't say LoL is necessarily better than HoN, as I have yet to play the latter, but having been an avid DotA player, LoL is definitely more to my liking based on what I've read of HoN. The community is more casual, as is the game. There's no creep/tower denying to hassle with, you don't lose gold for dying to enemy heroes (which makes mistakes/bad plays a bit more forgiving), and ganks/big team battles are constant right out the gates, even before the first creep wave arrives! Epic comebacks are also commonplace, since games aren't generally "decided" within the first 5-15 minutes like they were in DotA.
HoN looks great too, but I highly recommend people give LoL a try. It's free, so what have ya got to lose?
And now for my shameless referral plug :)

Try it! Even if you go back to HoN, you'll appreciate LoL.

Both communities are kind of intimidating for people who have never played that genre of game. I pre-purchased HoN but have never played a game. It's a beautiful game based on the tutorial. I have about $40 invested in LoL and it's more newbie friendly than HoN (but not much). Many, many babies.... or toddlers throwing tantrums.

Watching the EVE Alliance Tournament, and doing some casual pirating between matches. Also strongly considering making a miner/missioner, as I slowly bleed credits, even with my marginally profitable pirating.

Well, I will, and have been, playing alot of Lord of the Rings Online lately, trying to get my Champion up to level 65 before the summers end. Over half way there....although, since the XP needed increases exponentially, I'm probably no where near half way.
I will also probably play some Heavy Rain and maybe load up some Team Fortress 2 for good measure!
