The official TERA website has been updated with a new world lore entry. En Masse Entertainment, North American publishers for the forthcoming action MMORPG, have made a concerted effort to focus marketing efforts on the title's unique lore, and today's update is the latest example.
Southern Arun lies at the heart of the Valkyon Federation, below the Great Rift that bisects Arun in two. "The great human city of Velika is the jewel of Southern Arun. Built by humans in collaboration with the goddess Velik, the city is the capital of the Federation and the nexus of trade and diplomacy, as well as being the center of the struggle for Southern Arun. The landscape is dominated by the Great Machine, which not only powers the city but helps protect it," proclaims the update.
You can read more about TERA's lore at the official site.

OMG I'm totally on the fence between this and knights of the old republic. Which one to try??

If this game releases before TOR then it will have a shot, I will definitely buy the box-set and play it until TOR comes out (and continue playing it if its good enough). But it if comes out even within a few months of the TOR release, its screwed, the launch numbers will be way too low.

Let past experience be your guide. Do not let shiny, curvy things influence you. I am not as interested in this title as i am with the old republic, though i will wait till long after release on both to see who has been ripped off or not.

Im defiitely more interested in Tera. TOR looks like it is cut from the staple MMO - press skill button, attack, wait for GCD, press another skill button. Sure it does some things differently in storytelling and cover based combat, but the mold is still the same as all other MMOs out there.
Tera, on the other hand, is entirely different and action driven. Sure, it may crash and burn, but at least its soemthing DIFFERENT. This and FFXIV are my must play MMOs. If FFXIV comes out before Cataclysm I wont even have to go back to wow for a quality MMO experience! :P

I'd be more interested in TERA if they stopped talking about how great it will be and produced something playable.
