Massively has learned some exciting news for Star Wars: The Old Republic and sad news for Star Wars Galaxies. According to his Linked-In profile, the fan-beloved developer, Matt Boudreaux, landed a new job at Bioware's Austin studios working on SWTOR. Boudreaux, known as AdeptStrain on the SOE forums, implemented some of the most ground-breaking additions to the aging game Star Wars Galaxies, such as new Jedi and melee animations, the Appearance Tab, and the Chronicles System. His role on the SWG team was solidified by his role in creating some of the best instances like Hoth and Death Troopers.
His wit and easygoing demeanor gained AdeptStrain quick rapport among fans. Roleplayers, in particular, have a vested interest in his work because of the added character customization given by the Appearance Tab. Some players are even considering moving to SWTOR just because AdeptStrain is now a part of the team. A loss for SWG truly is a gain for SWTOR.
Based on their job postings, it does not seem that SOE are looking for a replacement, but when they do, he or she will have big shoes to fill. We at Massively congratulate Matt on his new position and wish him well.

AdeptStrain was by far the best developer SWG ever had. It's a huge loss for SOE but great for BioWare and I for one am much happier he is going to be working on TOR instead of a game that's on its last legs.
TOR will deathblow SWG so he made a smart move.

You have to give SWG credit, it doesn't look absolutely deplorable for a game as aged as it is. A bit uninspired, but not totally dated.

That jedi has a double-bladed lightsabre. Hell yeah! That's all the convincing I need to buy this game.

Shame a game to be released in 2011/2012 looks hardly better than one in 2003. Funny how thanx to WoW and consoles graphics have stopped. The last leap was in 2007 and nothing since.

I was just thinking the same thing. This is one reason I'm not sold on SWTOR yet. I also cant help but feel its being made purely to leech money out of those gullible or desperate enough for a good MMO to pay for it. I miss the creativity games used to get fed into them before gaming hopped on the money-wagon and became the next big thing.

A great developer he is, but the decisions made on TOR by Bioware have long since been sealed in stone. So any further contributions made by Boudreaux would be minimal if any. Such changes would set the game back by months if not more than a year.

AdeptStrain moves fast. He's already posting on the TOR forums. :)

What? tOR is employing ex SOE??? this is bad news IMO, why the frack would they want any input from someone involved in the anus of the gaming world.
SWG is dead, its a stain on the Star Wars bed sheets.
