if you want some killer exp at your level, travel to the bc area near Imperium and kill the bc's there. Soloing a bc should get you about 22K exp. They are mean and hit hard but i have seen SM solo them at your level.

I know you're busy, but you MUST roll an Elyos alt just to check out the Capital, Sanctum, its up in the clouds and looks totally awesome! To me, its the games graphics at their best! You don't have to level to 20 or anything like that, a few quick levels will do. If you don't you are truly missing out. Thanks for taking different games on like this. It gives us all a really great look at what is out there!

BTW, AWESOME BEARD!!!

One of the more truly interesting elements to Aion is the Abyss, get up to 25 and explore it, hopefully with some legion members.

I usually tell people if you quit the game before reaching 25, you haven't really seen the game.

The abyss gives you another place to mindlessly grind.

But with the risks of getting train ganked! Exciting area.

At level 19, and with a legion, the next step should be to see what level your legion buddies are at, if they have any alts that can play along with you, and hit those elites in the black claw area. Do a few [group] quests and rack up the XP. You may have noticed, but Campaign quests tend to give much, much better XP returns than other quests in your log, so you ought to do a few while you aim for 20.

Really, with a Legion, you ought to be asking your legionmates where you should be, and what you should be doing. They'll know better, and more importantly, they'll be able to help if it's not something you can do readily.

At your level, I don't think 1.9 is really going to change anything, except maybe for using armsbreaking to merge a better weapon. Most of the big changes impact levels 25 and up, it seems. I could be wrong, though!

I completely agree with SirNiko, if you can get some of your legion to help you then by all means do the group/campaign quests in Altgard (and on into Morheim if they are willing to help). As long as they are near your character's level you'll get very good XP from kills and, as SirNiko mentioned, those quests give much better rewards than the normal type.

For solo time head up to the observatory in Calderon Hill (to the northeast from Altgard Fortress, although 1.9 puts a flight transport point there now I think) for a decent batch of quests. You should be able to solo everything there as long as you are careful with aggro in the Lepharist areas. Kill 'Big Cargo Boxes' floating in the lake to get the Monster in a Box dropped quest. You should also have gotten a dropped quest in the first Mumu farm area (knot ring, where you burned the wagons) and from the tanning knife (drops from Mosbears) and probably another I'm forgetting. They aren't worth much, but it seems many people miss them, probably because sometimes they take massive killing to have drop, other times they've dropped right away. One of Aion's poorly thought out ideas; at least on the test server they seem to drop right away so maybe they've fixed that in 1.9?

When you ding 20 you might take a tour of Brusthonin. I don't think there is a level requirement actually, but most of the mobs there are 21+ and the quests there will tally up lots and lots of XP quite quickly. The group quests there mean it so don't try them without at least 3 players, and watch out for Farmer Havenjark, his aggro range is pretty big.

If you've been keeping up your gathering skill you can pick up even more XP in between grinding. As you say, grinding seems to be the fastest way to level and the loot can sometimes be nice. Gathering (err, extraction) in between killings not only gives a little more XP but also something to sell to the crafters for even more kinah. A few quests also require gathered items so it helps to keep your extraction skill leveling up along the way so you don't have to buy the items for the quests.
