I see they're faithfully recreating Clomne Wars' horrible, hideous character art style.

Have to agree. I didn't mind it as a 2D cartoon but the transition to 3D was horrible.

At first I was disappointed for no smugglers, but then I realized.why, given the target demographic.

Awesome!

I won't be heavily investing off the bat this time - after being let down by Free Realms trajectory - but I'm certainly keen to play it.

Not to be mean to FR (as I did love that game for a while there), but I kind of hope the reason FR degenerated into a cash-store trinket production line is because the team who built the actual GAME part were moved to this project - and that they stay on it after releasing, making ever-more playable content.

Could be spectacular. ^_^

Or Sony will move them on to the next project.

Tell me you're getting rid of levels and I'm the happiest guy on the Internet; "leveling up" as a way of gating content is my 2nd or 3rd least favorite trope in the whole MMO world. But those 20 minigames had better be really, really fun. If they're fun to play in and of themselves, who cares if there's only 20 of them? Bejeweled only has one and it kept everybody glued to their screen for two years. But for every successfully minigame like Bejeweled there's a gazillion entirely forgettable Flash-based minigames that nobody but the developer's room mate and his parents have ever heard of.

For all that I've been burned too many times by Sony hype to have much hope, I wish them luck.

This is a pretty good idea, hopefully SOE will actually invest in some decent servers so the game's low graphic requirements won't turn my gaming rig into a Charlie Chaplin slideshow like Free Realms does.

My five year old is bouncing off the walls right now after just looking at this. :) You know, with SWG, this game, and TOR, Lucas Arts could just reel in the $$$ that they want so badly. It would be kind of cool if someone made a sandbox star wars space game for us older folks.

Well, this isn't like its a total surprise but it looks better than I thought it would be. Space battle along with ground battles and the choice between Jedi or Clone Trooper? Wow, my kid is gonna be pysched for this one. I do have to agree with bhima though, I sure hope they have improved the graphics requirements. Other than that I can't wait to give this game a try!

Very cool, I'm happy to see the excellent Free Realms engine has finally been put to good use! Hopefully this will be as fun to play as Free Realms is.

Ah, so this is what happened to the Free Realms dev team. No wonder FR hasn't gotten any new areas. I wonder if SOE has adopted Cryptic's "crank 'em out fast and move on, what you see is all your getting" strategy?

OK...why would anyone choose to be a Padawan instead of a Jedi? That's like choosing to be a "single A" baseball player instead of a MLB player.

No leveling or quests? What?

I've got to admit, though not a Huge fan of Free Realms, this has me pretty damn estatic. Might be due to my background as a Star Wars fanatic. That aside, if the game delivers on even *Half* of what the trailer and info pages promise, this game will be as much of a hit with the Target demographic and than some. It's great to see them giving the Free Realms engine a bit of a face lift to incorporate the Animation Style of TCW series as it would be hard to give people that feel of being in that Universe if it looks completely like FRs. As to the three classes? I'd be willing to bet that more classes will open up once the game proves successful. You'll likely see Bounty Hunters in there at some point given how Huge the BH story Arch was for TCW-S2.

I just hope they take thier time and get this right; and that Lucasarts keeps SOE as arms length concerning crucial decisions for what direction the game will take; hopefully they learned thier lesson after letting SOE massacre SWG with the NGE and prevailant follow-ups. Bottom line, this *doe* look amazing, both in gameplay and visuals; anyone who thinks otherwise needs thier head checked.

Nice to see an online Star Wars game that is family oriented and casual, but I won't be bothering with it. Not my kind of game style at all and I did not like the Clone Wars animated series, both in tone and look. The character art was especially horrible looking, like wooden puppets...felt so un-Star Warsy. This is about what I expected them to do with a Clone Wars online game. I'll stick with SWTOR.
