I wish more people pvp'd at the lower levels. I'm not the best at it but it's a fun diversion and fighting real people always requires you to step up your game.

BTW.... screw necros

Hmm, as someone who is currently playing AoC and really looking forward to the PVP, this kind of discourages me.

Your description of CtF and Deathmatch make it sound lackluster and buggy. I'll try it for myself, and hope that's not the case.

Also, I was wondering; Does world PVP get any better after tortage/white sands? I find the lack of a penalty for death kind of...odd. It seems I can just keep getting smoked by the same players ad nauseum, and respawn about five seconds away from them where they can either camp me, or I can immediately bum-rush them and try to finish em off.

Forgive me for pulling the WoW card; but the corpse run is appropriate punishment in my opinion. Irritating, but no long-term impact on gameplay.

Ahh, my gripes. Thanks for listening.

It broke immersion for me, when at one point a barbarian asked me to kill him so that he could get to the respawn point quicker.

....

That was a put-off.

I must say that I play on the servers Set & Wiccana and my characters are still in the low range up to lvl 45 so I haven't experienced the large playfields or a PvP server yet. I like to PvP when I want and not have it be around me all the time. If you have people that know what they are doing then PvP can be a big rush.

Perhaps if the games were limited to a 10 level range then it might be more encouraging? As of right now, you might be a 20ish toon with appropriate gear but you're fighting against high 30s with better gear and such with more skills available to them.

Aside from the hiding exploit on the totem torrents that I described, I wouldn't call it buggy. I'm actually having quite a lot of fun with AoC's minis, and that's just going in as a PUG most times since I don't have a dedicated group.

I imagine it will be even more fun if I can find some friends.

As far as the world PvP, honestly I'm the wrong person to ask about that. I leveled an Assassin to 70 on the Tyranny server at release and was so turned off by the FFA mentality that I left the game. I occasionally play a ranger on Cimmeria, but most of my game time is on Wiccana (PvE).

World PvP in games other than EVE has always struck me as utterly pointless because nothing is ever at stake. It's basically a mechanism for people to screw with you in a way that would get them in trouble outside of computer games. You zerg the same few people night after night, and nothing of consequence ever really happens. Not for me anymore.

Try out the minis though, regardless of your server type. They're pretty fun.

You haven't played Totem Torrent in a very long time have you?

"This game type is also somewhat problematic because players can hide inside their initial spawn/respawn points due to the area being inaccessible to enemy players. "

There have been stairs into the team bases for ages, you can just walk right in there.

Well, I wish you had been around to share your wisdom with the guys who caused my entire team to lie there dead for about 10 minutes the other night.

But to answer your question, yes, yes I have. This morning in fact.

Mr. Lee is correct: you can get to the other rez pad via stairs to the left and right of the totem.

That said, glad you're enjoying the minis!
