Turbine is offering a special treat for former Lord of the Rings Online subscribers: another Welcome Back Week. Beginning today and running through May 31st, all inactive accounts have been reactivated free of charge just in time to participate in the Third Anniversary Celebration.
Players can return for free, join the party, and catch up thanks to a 5% XP boost that stacks with rest XP for even faster leveling. The game isn't the only thing you can enjoy free during the event -- Stable-masters in the game are offering free travel as well.
As always, the event is open to all former players. All of your old characters are waiting for you in Middle-earth, so log in, get your Writ of Virtue, and check out what's new in Lord of the Rings Online since you last visited!

Stop doing this to me Turbine! I hate your PvE! So much! But you keep making me try. . .
Ah well, off to install LotRO.

The pvp is lotro is never going to change because Tolkien Enterprises has Turbine on lock down with that content.
I believe Turbine had to fight tooth and nail just to get that little pvp into the game and when they did Tolkien Enterprises had to approve everything in it.

They've got some weird billing system. I tried to pick up LoTRO a year or two ago through their online system, bought the game but could never make an account. Oh well.

Just call customer service or send them an email. They have the most helpful service I've found online and should be able to help you out.

Announce that an expansion is coming out where I can play as one of Sauron's forces, and you'll have me.
I've wanted to play as an Orc, Uruk'hai, Dark Elf, or some "other" evil race ever since the game was first announced.
The current races don't appeal to me what-so-ever.

Well if you like to PvP you can already do that with monster play. I'm a LOTRO novice, but my understanding is that once you have a character who gets to level 10 (which happens very fast) you can create monster classes to play in the Ettenmoors (LOTRO's version of a big battleground PvP area). These monsters start at max level (65 I think) with a number of different skills, but can earn points from playing them (quests, killing good guys, etc) to improve themselves somehow.
The monster classes are interesting too. I know there are several varieties of orcs and uruk-hai as well as wargs (they are like rogues) and giant spiders.

That's correct. You can play as a Warg (stealth class), Giant spider (CC / ranged), And a variety of Uruks / Orcs : 2 different Healer Types, 1 Ranged and 1 classic Melee type. Monster players cannot leave the Ettenmoors zone.
Within the PvP zone it's pretty much a free for all, but at peak hours there's usually a lot of raid vs raid open field battles, keep taking and the like. It's been a neglected part of the game for a while, but people keep showing up on both sides. I hope to see some LoTRO PvP related news at E3 in a few weeks.

Apparently, EU players' lifetime deal is only 75 GBP (~$108 USD). Please post immediately when US players are offered this deal!
