Great comeback by Sapience and Turbine!

The problem is, of course, haters only acknowledge facts when the facts serve their hate.

When faced with facts they don't like, haters either cry conspiracy; claim it's a lie; or else switch tactics and unleash a barrage of insults.

Haters (like their opposite, the extreme phanboi) don't care about the truth; they come in with their minds already made up, and just want to sound off.

Still, I love it whenever a company counters lies with a pure dose of fact. It won't change any minds among the haters, of course, but at least it's out there in the public eye.

Eh. Not hating anyone. Just commenting on how hardcore haters behave toward anything they hate. The patterns tend to repeat, regardless of topic or game.

I don't know. Every week there is a "Tell the Commnuity" thread, sometimes just repeating the same questions from weeks earlier. This is a fine list of basic enhancements, quality-of-play changes and cosmetic features. But it's also over 3 years in a pay-to-play game.

That's just not that compelling a list if you were an active player over 3 years and left over worries about the future. There's a reason the forums are challenging Turbine to say something about their plans for LotRO.

That is a pretty good list just off the top of his head and done on his day off no less. The mere fact that he took the time to answer the question let alone on his day off speaks loudly about their communication and willingness to work with their fans.. Even more proof is the sticky post that Sapience himself told members to gather and he would sticky it last week about the new info coming to the game. Although I will say that Turbine has been less forthcoming than some companies about the development of their game and upcoming content, at least they realized there was an issue and that many players were concerned about it. If the content they released was not so damn good then us fans would not be so impatient for new stuff, but I guess we can't have our carrot cake and eat it too...

some of those changes were in other mmos too, so not necessarily "oh we took the lead and listened to players" maybe more, "oh the players want this and x mmo does it".

Thats a weak list considering the age of the game. Every MMO should have a poll on their website asking what features should be worked on and then detailed suggestions on how to work on them.

Player perspective is the TRUE perspective. Turbine would maybe realise that if they actually would try some of their Poor UI custimation. Simple things like beeing able to change fonts ? How hard is that ?

Spoken like a true whiner. Whiners cry about things they want changed and when they're changed, the whine because they went too far or not far enough. When they're fixed, they whine because they weren't fixed earlier.

There's no pleasing whiners.

Calling ppl whiners is always a good solution when they mention some features that would improve the game.

How can the option of changing fonts damage the game ?

There is just one group of true whiners... Those that call other ppl whiners.

If lack of horse reins or inability to change the font is your biggest complaint, I'd consider that a pretty good game. Other MMO's have core gameplay issues or are just plain boring. No game is perfect and there's always room for improvement. That's the good thing about an MMO. It is always changing, hopefully for the better.

No. 'Player perspective is the TRUE perspective'? I'm not even sure if I agree with that. I rather have a company that creates their own game - sure, they should listen to criticism and suggestions but having the playerbase decide what should be in the game is one of the worst thing imaginable.

I have always felt that for the most part Turbine took a very heavy notice of the LOTRO and DDO community. The only thing that worries me is their new bosses and how the new bosses can tear it all down. Which is why I have taken a break from LOTRO.

Nice list, but I just don't have faith in Turbine to deliver the fixes outlined in the Tell the Community section, it's a bit of a reach to pull things from beta too.

I used to participate, but really it's pretty much lip service given the frequency of updates in recent months, things have slowwweeddd terribly in LOTRO development land for some strange reason.

Agreed. We don't want fixes. We want new lvl 65 content since they've upped the level cap. I can't tell you how many times I've ran GS back in the days of Moria but its probably upwards of 100 times. Same goes for the 16th, DD, etc. As a minstrel, your always asked to heal what not and fairly often busy.

The sad part is, in less than maybe 1.5 months back in LOTRO after a short break, I've already probably done SG 100+ times. I'm serious about that. I've already gotten two symbols and that should say a lot to anyone who plays. Part of the problem is that the only instances people seem to run on my server are SG and SH. Warg Pens is fairly rarely done. However, that's only 3 real instances to choose from. 3 instances??? WTH Turbine. That's not an expansion and I can hardly believe I paid $19.95 for Mirkwood. 3 INSTANCES? WTH TURBINE!?!?!?

If I run old instances like GS, 16th hall, DD, forges, fg, etc I get exp relics that aren't even useable on my level 65 items. Hence, I apply them to lvl 60 items to make them reach lvl 11 but still there's very little reason to run lvl 60 content except helping kinmates gearing alts or relics.

Sadly, people are so bored with the only 3 instances available in Mirkwood, 2 of which are commonly ran, people are starting to level alts to do 'SOMETHING' while they wait for some new content. Really though, I think an expansion should include roughly 5-6 instances minimum to keep people somewhat interested and give some varity. I can't really think of one person in my kinship who has turned down SG runs from time to time being 'SGed out' or 'worn out of SG' from the non-stop attempts. Skirmishes are a nice destraction to get us to do something else to level our legendary items. IE Collect skirmish points for scrolls of empowerment/lesse mpowerment, but eventually if your like me your lengedary now has all tier 6 legacies. ...Now what? Crafting? My character is SM/kindred with each of his/her professions. ...Now what? Run SG again? Great, I've got 100 DG tokens and upgraded my two mainly used legendaries to lvl 70. Now what? ...Run SG again? Great, I have a complete 25-rad set and still more tokens left. What now Turbine? What now?

Roll an alt to restart all over again? Weeee!

Why did you pay $19.95 for Mirkwood? Turbine gave it away free for launch, and if you wait awhile they occasionally give it away during special offers, or for $5.

Sapience also responded to that particular criticism in the same post. They don't ask the same questions, they ask similar ones to refine the feedback from them. It will take a while to implement the sweeping revamps people want, if they even choose to do so.

typically Turbin; take the easier stuff to fix, fix it and pretend to forget the gigantic issues people have been asking in every TTCT. So the fanboys can have a party and those who've been expecting some REAL change take it where the sun doesn't beat..as always. Glad I abandoned the game.

I think they listen more than a lot of other MMO Devs, but NOT nearly as much as some people around here seem to think.

I recently resubbed for a month, to try out these "skirmishes" (I liked most of them btw), and I'm sad to see that the game is still plagued by some of the horrible things that came along with MoM. Like the LI grind...

I mean, why must having a personal weapon be THIS complicated and boring? I swear it's like having a second job - and this is coming from someone who still plays EVE, so that's saying something!
People have been complaining about it for months, and (almost) nothing...

Giving us monster player emotes is great and all - I appreciate it - but how about fixing some of the game's MAIN issues? These are the ones keeping me from enjoying Lotro.
They are literally preventing me from staying subbed... and that's a real shame, tbh.
