Realtime Worlds Community Manager Chris Collins lends his mug to a new video featuring the various customization options found in the forthcoming All Points Bulletin urban crime MMORPG. Collins talks about everything from the in-game paint program to the musical death themes we first heard about back at PAX East 2010.
"Players can create what we call death themes, so every time that you kill a player they're forced to listen to your music," enthuses Collins in the video, currently hosted over at GamesXtreme.net. The two-and-a-half-minute teaser, compiled at the EA Showcase London event, features brief snippets on the player music creation system and the Forza Motorsport-like graphical layering app that facilitates the game's extreme customization options. The video also features a smattering of new gameplay footage including a few glimpses of the action and social districts.
Check it out over at GamesXtreme.net.

Wow, I was not hyped at all for APB until I saw that teaser.
Aside from the car explosion (which made me chuckle a little bit), the rest of the game seems like a very chilled out, customizable GTA meets Counterstrike. I confess, I'm a sucker for the "death theme" idea. Electronic music is a hobby of mine, and being able to play around with a sampler and make some other dude hear my tune when I paint his brains on the sidewalk is going to be epic.
Looks really neat, in any case. Not sure if it'll warrant a long-term subscription, but I'll definitely keep the box around on my shelf for new updates and whimsical streetgang playdates.

Thus the beauty of their subscription model. Buy some hours and use them at your leisure if you just want to pop in a few times a month. I plan on probably paying for 1 month then going to hourly after that unless they have a big update in the time it takes for 50hours+1month to run out.

Dude this is the same stuff over and over and over again. Can't APB come up with some new footage? I was excited for APB but nothing new has been on the radar for awhile and word on the street is it's very "small" game. Who knows though...giving them the benifit of the doubt but got my doubts.

Having broken 80 hours of gameplay on the beta, I'm still not even close to bored and am jonesing for more. Though I can see why some people might consider it small, it's still quite large enough to keep the game interesting, at least until they give us some new districts.
I am hearing from various other players, though I don't know how true it is, that they have 2 more districts lined up and ready; I didn't read this anywhere, I'm just hearing people chat about it. From what I hear, they're just waiting to smooth the game out some. That makes sense to me.

While I understand what you're saying you also need to understand what they are doing and why. They are creating a "foundation" for their game and will continue to build on top of that. It may be small now but with a proper foundation it will grow. The major issues with other MMO's is that they try to do too much and their foundation is bad.
I'd much rather have a small game that works properly than a big game that doesn't and will require months just to fix the base mechanics of the game. You also need to remember that this isn't a traditional MMO. You need to look at this like a FPS. Sure you play the same maps(quests in this case as well) over and over but because each time the way things play out is different it doesn't get boring very fast at all.
On another note I fully expect to spend hours just on customization which isn't something you can say for pretty much any other game on the market.

interesting direction to take a pure PVP offering. The customization allows people to create a great sense of visual style. I have to admit I'm tempted...

I'll admit it. I'm in the beta, and I'm addicted to this game. More so than I've been in a very very long time.

I don't think it's breaking the NDA to say if you look around, there are quite a few places giving away beta keys to the EU closed beta.
