I stopped reading after "without any worry of being ganked over and over by someone with "420" in her name."

What kind of retarded generalization is that? What's wrong with ganking and what's wrong with marijuana? What's the link between the two?

You sound like some butthurt kid who got ganked a few too many times and who happen to believe all the bullshit the Gov and the DEA are telling you about cannabis.
Do yourself a favor, and go watch "The Union : The business behind getting high".

What's wrong with ganking? How 'bout everything. Ganking is killing a player that has no chance of beating you and gives you no gain from being killed...other than the sick satisfaction of killing someone weaker than you that gankers get, I guess. What's NOT wrong with ganking?

420 does not equal marijuana. I personally don't smoke marijuana, but I don't really care that other people do it. In fact, I'd rather see someone smoking pot than drinking alcohol.

However, the term "420" is pretty much synonymous with douchebags. Anyone with "420" in his/her name is immediately a douchebag in my book. Not because they smoke marijuana...but because they think that smoking marijuana is so fucking cool that they want to have a reference to it in their fantasy character's name.

Dude. Chill.

He's just saying that as a low-level visitor to a game it's nice not to have to worry about getting slaughtered by the usual sort of idiots who enjoy killing new folks in the lowbie areas.

Not regular PvPers...the folks who prey on people who have no chance of defending themselves.

And he's not saying anything about pot. He's talking about those guys with qwn, 420, etc in their names.

The answer that VampireCactus gave you is so incredibly right on, that there really isn't a lot more to add.

Honestly I think that a lot of people reading your comment and his or her reply are thinking exactly that. I think that was one of the most spot on replies I've seen in some time.

I had a blast joining up with you guys last night to play. My impressions of the game were pretty similar to what you've outlined here. Picking 2 different elements was cool and the ability to combine them however you wanted was a lot nicer than a strict class system (I went blue, for control, and white, for healing and utility). I also appreciated how fluid everything was - the game wasn't really clunky at all.

On the downsides, quest variety was definitely not that great. Kill X enemies, collect Y drops. There are also a few escorts, but nothing remarkable. Bag space was not a big issue to me - we found 6 and 10 slot bags for sale on regular merchants, not just in the cash shop. However, they do have some cash shop boosts like "your character gains 1 point in this stat", which I'm not a big fan of at all.

The bottom line is that I logged in to play again today, so it must have done something right.

Well, in Crowns of Power it is Beau. In the game of this week, though, it is Beau Hindman. haha

I will probably be on, mining and selling the ore. Or sneaking around really scared.

Oh no. It's to bad my internet was down last week. I would have loved to join you all in CoP. I spent a few months playing it a while back, and when I am in the mood, its a part of my replay rotation. The highest level character I ever level was some like level 35-40, Blue/White(think Mind/Holy). A very fun build for dungeons and group PvP. Being able to hold off 2-3 mobs solo while using your healing to tank one or two more while your party picks off mobs one by one is a lot of fun. And nothing like single handedly holding off a small army of adds to allow your party a free pass at the boss.

I have also leveled a few other characters, like a Green/White and a Black/Green. There were a few more, but none of which I recall leveling past the first zone.

The G/W is pretty much THE tank class. Your pets have high aggro, your spells have high aggro, and even your heals bring you some aggro. Played right, you can gather a swarm of 5 or 6 mobs and pick at them all one by one while you let your HoTs heal you and your thorn shields hurt your foes. Not the fastest pairing to level, but certainly a fun one.

The B/G, which I affectionately refer to as 'The Necromancer' is VERY fun. Very hard in later levels, but so much fun. And in the hands of a skilled juggle/balance style payer, they are the gods of the PvP circuit. Good tanking and damage from your pets, the ability to dismiss your opponents pets, life stealing and a host of DoT and debuffs. With the right play style, of balancing your debuffs, high damage nukes(which dispell your debuffs), and health stealing, a black/just-about-anything can really be a terror. Couple with the pets for some constant damage, they are a real force. Before you start thinking they are OP, wait and learn about the stamina system - Black's and White's common greatest foe.

Damn you Beau for picking the least interesting faction in Face of Mankind. Brotherhood of Shadows is the one that looks most appealing to me.

Downloading now. And curious; what's your resource for finding F2P games, Beau?

I find it very difficult to filter through the bajillion F2P titles available and to know what's interesting and what's... not so interesting.

Blah?: Yeh, I know.Funny thing, one of the first people I saw from my own faction said "This faction is cool, don't let people tell you otherwise." It seems like a safe enough faction, too, since we are miners? We can always roll another one and meet up.

Breezer: To be honest, I troll around game sites looking at links, posts. And at some point I have looked at or played most of these, and are re-visiting them sometimes years later.

Guess I am going to pass on this one, someone else in the family has already tried it and they have a rule limiting you to one account per IP address.

Lurking the forums, found this post that is a "Jackpot!" for a perspective player.

http://forums.rampidgaming.com/showthread.php?t=14455

I know by now that most F2P games are actually more expensive, sometimes MUCH more expensive than P2P games but wow! (Makes me wonder how much I spent on my (shhhh) Maple Story character back in the day)

This post really lays it down for you at just how expensive it is to get a "decent" character. I was planning on rolling on the PvP server, but if being competitive costs $700... maybe I'll just hide on the PvE server lol
