The clock is still ticking. In less than a week, something happens in the world of Planetside. Something what? We honestly have no idea, although the quickly-ticking countdown clock on Planetside's website teases the mind. We've been watching this clock for a little while now, and the only hint that SOE will give about it is that it is "anniversary related."
Planetside recently posted a new comic as part of this countdown, where a mysterious figure cackles over obtaining nanites in preparation for converting them. Into what? We still have no idea! It won't stop players from speculating, of course. Stay tuned, as we'll find out when the countdown hits zero in about a week.

It will go down like this
All planetside fans, and people who are curious watch as the timer ticks down to 0.
Fireworks go off...and an announcement from SOE
"Planetside is being closed down, but, we will give you 6 months free of Everquest 2!"

If this countdown turns out to be anything other than a straight sequel to Planetside then a lot of people will be VERY dissapointed, including myself.

Well, they’ve been talking about doing Planet Side 2 for a while now so I think they will announce the sequel or it’ll be some lame in-game event that disappoints everyone.
Or both!
But the other thing that could happen is that they announce the game will now be FTP with micro-transactions. That’ll bring new people to the game and SOE will monitor how much money it generates and then use that data in deciding what sort of payment plan Planet Side 2 will use.

Yet another game that needs a graphical update and NOTHING ELSE changed hehe. It was really fun, but like asherons call, anarchy online, and dark age of camelot it suffers from lego land like graphics that modern gamers cant stomach very well

SOE said this is an anniversary event, not related to Planetside 2.

If you could cite your source it would clear things up a bit.

"Also an FYI on this since I've seen it mentioned quite a bit, we're not going to be announcing anything PlanetSide Next related at that date. Sorry!
