There is a lot of assumption and unfair discrimination about this next game and Cryptics business plan in general - he only gave an answer to a question in a couple of sentences and already people are jumping up and down complaining about a rushed release and poor choices.

This game may be a complete failure once its released but to judge it now possibly years before it is released is ridiculous.

I don't think they're judging the quality of the new mmo.

Many are just unhappy that another game is being worked on while their
other two MMO's were released half done, prematurely, and with many things
promised left out.

They rather push out another game (good or not) then fix games others are
already invested in.

True, but it takes less people to maintain or add to a game than it does to develope a game from scratch. Maybe they are expanding and getting new people in?

The point is, we dont know at such an early stage.

"The point is, we dont know at such an early stage."

Oh that's very true. I really honestly do hope they turn out a good game and
make the ones they have released much better with time.

But the only way to judge their future progress is their past performance,...

...Which hasn't been the best up till now. If we couldn't speculate,.. then there
would be no reason for a comments section. Haha (Unless only positive things
were allowed to be said.)

Well, if this was their first mmo offer i would agree, but this is their third, or fourth if you want to count city of heroes, and so far they have shown zero ability to make a good mmo. Both sto and co are shallow, bug ridden games. So given past experience i don't think we are to off the mark when we decry this third offer from them. But hey, pig's may yet fly.

I hope they aren't developing a D&D game. Cryptic has some great ideas and some talented programmers, but they don't put enough the time, content, and polish into their games. And I have yet to see a Cryptic game that has a well thought out endgame. It's usually just poor PvP and rolling alts.

All this raging about Cryptic. I don't know, I liked Champions Online, it had good customisation, the graphics was interesting comic cartoony and it had fun gameplay elements, only it could use a bucketload of more content.
And wasn't Cryptic the ones that developed City of Heroes/Villains in the first place? Also a very fun and in a way creative MMO (at least different than all the other fantasy/scifi MMO's).

Horror/adventure sounds like an interesting theme, but man, they gonna face some hell of a competition with a FFXIV, GW2, TOR and a TSW among others coming out before them.

Cryptic did develop CoH and CoV, but over 90% of that team stayed behind when Cryptic sold CoH to NCSoft. The team that created CO and STO was just about a whole new team, with all the "suits" from original Cryptic running things.

Most Cryptic haters will admit CoH was a pretty decent game, especially for its time. But the game didn't get its best changes till after Cryptic sold the property.

No it is not ridiculos. Their games are crap and a total failure, there is no power on this planet that will make me give them money again. They are amateurs and they should not be allowed to lie and mislead people again.

Well if it is 4th ed D&D, how fitting would that be for cryptic to be doing it? A bastardized lame version of a game put out by a bastardized lame version of a company. Perfect fit if you ask me. Neither one gets it right.

why in the hell would cryptic (a broke down piece of shit company) get there hands on NeverWinter Nights? Who would make such a guess like that?! Personally i think those people of bioware would rather shoot themselfs in the face before letting Cyptic near any of there main titles. Therese a reason that Obsidean works on Bioware sequels more often then not

Bioware doesn't hold the license for Neverwinter Nights... Atari does. Guess who owns Cryptic Studios? Atari.

Since Cryptic is clearly focused on spamming MMOs, I've got an idea of the next title after this one. Why don't they make an MMO based on the movie ET? It worked for the Atari, right? Am I right?

Is this there business model, keep pushing out unfinished, subpar MMO's? Cryptic is doing a great job of putting themselves out of business.

The big problem with cryptic's business plan is that it is undercutting the playerbase's general trust in MMO's as a product. Cryptic have managed to get those box sales because real MMO's have built up player trust and expectation of reasonable quality and cryptic is just exploiting that trust. But how long can it work? how long before the whole industry has to bend over backwards to insure players that the box, any box, is worth 50, or 40 or 20$.

Imagine if american car companies started putting out crap cars, eventually... oh yeah I drive a Honda.

So many complaining about how Cryptic is running their MMO business, yet I bet at least half or more here purchased a "My Little Sparkle Pony" from Blizzard.

Talk about "gaming" the player.

Blizzard might have done bad things (like the horse thingy), but they have also done LOTS, and when I say lots I mean LOTS of great things, and when you do so many great things its OK to fall from time to time.
Cryptic on the other hand haven't done good MMO's for quite a long time, and it seems they keep walk in this lane.

Oh come on now, this black and white thinking is just getting ridiculous. Blizzard offers tons of content with their subscription and only sell a handful of pets and 1 mount. In WoW most of the cool content and fluff is available to any player willing to put in the time and effort in the game.

With Cryptic most of the neat little fluff pieces are purchased in their shop using points that can only be purchased in set amounts. Sure there are some cool things attainable in game, but the ratio between in game items and store bought items is very different from WoW.

It's stupid to be against all micro transactions because some games do them well and offer tons of high quality content right out of the box. Bioware is a good example of a company that releases great games that stand perfectly well on their own but still have DLC available.
