It is indeed a very fun game. You can use my ID on the Abyss (west) server. You get a bunch of free items and gear when you first start your character if you use it during character creation.

I'll give it another chance now that it has officially launched, but my closed beta experience was that it was way too slow-paced and had way too much "auto-attack and wait" to compare to isometric classics like Diablo II.

Lacking any sort of mana and health regen does indeed take its toll on the attack tray. ;) You do wind up using auto-attack by far the most, just to conserve potions.

Still, the concepts of making most any mob in the game into an evolving combat pet and having gear that grows, changes and improves as your character does are worthy ones, and BoI is still a lot of fun. (And you can always decide to support the devs and help broaden your use of skills at the same time by buying some potions from the cash shop. They've got to make money somehow if they're to keep the game running.)

You can get used to the locked camera and lack of a horizon, but it's the luck system that will really get to you over time. It may actually scare people away from the cash shop altogether when they find out the hard way that it may take hundreds of mount stones to get any given mount (even the lamer class-based ones you get free) to +4.

What class do you play? I played the closed beta up to level 50 on a heretic, and I only had a few times where I ran out of mana--and that was before I started paying attention to it. Most of the mobs die in a few seconds with 1 spell and a few auto attacks from you and your pet. Unless you're endlessly grinding at a breakneck pace, the free food you get everyday from the food-giver should be enough to constantly regen your hp/mp. Add to that the very frequent drop rates of various healing and mana potions/items, the regen shouldn't be as hard as a few people have said to keep sufficiently filled.

BOI is a very fun, time eating, hack-fest. It's an mmo, but through 50 levels of CB, I only partied for about 30 minutes total for the jail instance. I guess there's a need to do it if you want the shiny goodies, but you can play it solo if you want. Its definitely a great filler until Diablo 3 comes out. I'd also probably play Torchlight if it went multiplayer over BOI. No knock on BOI by any means. Its an awesome free game.

The pet and mount systems stand out as being truly entertaining and original. For what the game lacks in character creation customization, it makes up for in all the other little details you can spend time fooling with.

PWI threw out a bunch of free Zen (cash shop currency) near the end of the CB, and that was the best part of the game for me. I bought a crazy huge-eared bunny mount, and about 10 cosmetic outfits and gear and it was a blast to have mix and match to create a unique cool looking toon.

I started over last night after the server wipes and easily got back to the 20s in about 1.5 hours. I'll keep playing for a while, I think they've done a great job making an easy and entertaining F2P game. Mindless hours of slaying, and a great pet/mount system set this apart from many free games. Not to mention the stylistic and gorgeous graphics and effects. Give it a try if you want something to kill time and have a good time.
