Hmm, well, besides the occasional lag I don't have any problems with crashes or stability or such, as far as I've noticed neither did the people I often group up with. Larger group PvP combat is going well too, but I have a relatively new PC (2008), so I guess that helps too maybe.
Launch months there were lots of problems in all kinds of areas, true. I personally don't have those anymore though.

Great article, nice peek into the new content :D
I guess we'll have to see how it'll play from May 11th onwards.

My new PC hasn't had any trouble with the beta, although I should note I'm not using the DX10 stuff. But I've got most of the settings cranked up pretty high and haven't had any issues, looks great. No crashes so far. I7 CPU and Geforce 200 series GPU.

It's not Deadalon's computer, it's his karma.

I'm a casual adult player who have played AOC since june 2008. I took me 6 months to get my first char to 80. What I like about the game is the mature community on EU Crom server, and the fact that skills is more important than gear. Atleast the difference between the second best gear and the top gear is minimal. Between shit gear and the best there's quite a difference, which it really should be.

This means that players will buy crafted gear, and the trader is quite busy. I have collected many recipes and have a good income from simply buying materials from trader and crafting finished products.

As a adult player with a job and limited time to play it's really important that I don't feel discriminated simply because I can't put in 20h+ weekly. With the expansion the gear difference between veteran (casual) players and the hardcore raiders will be even smaller.

How is a max level character who has done every quest in the game (pre expansion) supposed to get these new AA points? Grind? Can you get AA XP from PVP? Are there new high level zones, too other than the 20-40 one?

Level 80s get AA points by doing new quests in the expansion, killing PvE mobs, and killing players in both open world and mini-game PvP.

There are several additional new zones besides the 20-40 zone that I profiled, all of them designed for level 80s. There is also new dungeon content for high levels.

wow, why is it whenever someone has a dissenting point of view on this site that all the fanbois get all flamey and down mod? I like AoC but there are some problems with the game. Is it really that hard to just talk about it without getting all emotional?

I played pre-release beta and at launch and didn't have crashing problems. I was not a fan of the 20+ questing so I quit after a month. I have recently signed up for the trial and I like the changes they've made. I am hoping that the khitai 20-40 area is comparable to Tortage's questing.

The irony is that I am crashing a lot now when playing the trial. (it has something to do with the shadow manager) The good news is that it asks me if I want to recover. It recovers and I can play for 2-3 more hours.

Its funny that to me its so worth it to put up with recoverable crashes for the shadows. The shadows add so much atmosphere to the game that I am not going to turn them off. Oh and I do have a standard 8800gt that runs the game on high detail at 50-60 fps with the occasional dip to 45. I did install the latest nvidia drivers and that didn't help. Oh and I can't run it in a window mode because that caused 2 BSODs.

I really like the necro now so much more than at launch. I don't know what they did but the necro rocks and the demonologist kinda sucks now. At launch the necro was confusing and the demonologist rocked. I struggled with all the scout classes at launch and now the barbarian is a beast! It is my second favorite class.

I'm dloading the RotGS beta now but unless something really sets me off, I'm going to buy RotGS. I really hope the expansion client is more stable.
