If only the fleet action was as good as the video. :(

I really love the fleet actions. I've been distracted by Mass Effect 2 lately, and now I have Final Fantasy 13 coming to me. I'll get on there for some fun sometime soon.

When I did the fleet battles I thought it was the best time I ever had in STO.

Video looks like basically just a big mess of ships, doesn't look like there's much if any strategy involved.

Yeah... it looks a lot like lasergun pick-up-stix. I was just watching Generations and saw where they forced the Klingon ship to cloak by hacking and then one-shotted them with a torpedo. That's the kind of Trek stuff I was hoping would be in STO. The space battles, which may be fun from a scifi MMO point of view, aren't very Trekky.

Forty-plus minutes of dialog culminating in the "one-shotting" of an opponent's vessel might be more Trekky, but as to whether it would qualify as more entertaining gameplay is dubious at best.

@yep, this tactic may be ok as a one-off idea in a movie, but the developers surely cannot be expected to research, design, program and code unlimited ways of tactically defeating an enemy without unnecessary force to make it more "trekky", or using this same strategy to defeat every klingon ship we come across would get very boring, very quickly.

I agree that some more forms of tactics in battle would help the game be more interesting and less soul-less, but realistically there is a limit to what developers can do even with unlimited time.
