I've been enjoying the GW 5th anni.. I did a bit of time in 9-rings with my mesmer and now I'm just enjoying seeing every cupcake drop. I have about 51 now, not as many as the power-grinders but I'll save them for a special occasion.

I love this game, truly I do. It's the most enjoyable MMO I've ever played.

But I would say ArenaNet gave up on GW too soon and too completely (in order to focus on GW2). The original game has been stagnant, imo, in terms of new content and/or substantive improvements for the past couple of years, with nothing but a few skill tweaks and frou-frou crapola (Mox, seasonal events [yawn], etc.).

Guild Wars was, for all intents and purposes, a really fun game that got shelved much too soon.

This is a big mystery to me. There are millions of copies of Guild Wars sold. Imagine if you had millions of players wanting new content. Why wouldn't you give it to them?

Here are some ideas...

The Go Green Expansion - Don't waste electricity by death-leveling your way to 20 in pre-searing. Instead, buy the expansion pack for exciting new adventures in Ascalon City.

Epic Campaign - Oh snap, a quest for a PvE sword that's more than 15-22?

Alternate Ending - Find out what happens when you choose to side with the King and not Prince Rurik.

Guild Wars: High Ground - http://photics.com/books/guild-wars-high-ground

Guild Hall Expansion Pack - Mini Games, upgrades

Crafting Expansion Pack - Fishing, Mining, Baking, Brewing

ArenaNet is so focused on the sequel that they've neglected the original. The problem is that players have drifted into other communities. Will they return? I don't know. Playing more than one MMORPG is just too time consuming for me. I'm starting to think that Star Wars: The Old Republic is better for me.

I used to play EverQuest a lot... but I think a classic blunder with that franchise was made. The sequel fragmented the community. I see the same mistake with Guild Wars. Why do we have to go 200 years in the future? I'm more interested in the past... teaming up with the King and kicking the Charr out of Ascalon. But instead of splitting the community between two versions, it was left to atrophy. I don't know how to fix this problem. If the sequel is really REALLY good, the players will likely return. But from what I've seen so far, I'm not enthusiastic.
