[Update: A Bethesda spokesperson told Joystiq, "It's an ongoing legal matter. I don't know where whoever reported that got their information, but it is ongoing and we are going to see how it plays out in court." So there you have it – Interplay and Bethesda haven't made nice just yet. Original post follows.]
Do you hear that? That is the hushed sound of pre-squee joy from millions of Fallout fans who will be thrilled to hear that Bethesda has abruptly dropped their lawsuit against Interplay, freeing up the latter company to go ahead with a Fallout MMO (also known as "Project V13"). Duck and Cover got the scoop from Interplay investor "Frymuchan," who hinted at a secret deal between the two companies:
"Bethesda dropped their appeal of the lawsuit with Interplay and a secret deal was struck (maybe they will release the terms of the deal soon, probably so). Anyways, this is awesome news for Interplay stock. The appeal by Bethesda was dropped yesterday. I'm assuming part of the deal was that Interplay drop their countersuit against Bethesda."
For fans of the franchise who have been dismayed at the lawsuit -- which has been dragging on for months at this point -- this presents great hope for the much-anticipated Fallout MMO to actually see development and release. We'll be sure to bring you the official word from either Bethesda or Interplay when it happens.

Perhaps better fact checking and getting the true story will be in order for the next article, eh Massively? As stated above, the lawsuit is still on.

Just an FYI, we've been talking to Joystiq, who's been talking to Bethesda. We've moved as fast as they have, and we move as fast as Bethesda and Interplay can get us the information.
We try to deliver the information to you as fast as possible and as accurately as possible. What we had was accurate at the time, and now it has changed. We've updated the story to reflect that.

If they had dropped, it wouldn't represent hope to me, rooting for the B team. :p

Honestly, I'm so sick of Interplay. They aren't even making Fallout MMO, they don't own the rights to Fallout, all they are trying to do is be the middle man between the studio making the game (masthead studio) and the company that owns the rights to Fallout (Bethesda).
Interplay can F themselves in the A, they don't deserve to be making money off of a franchise they already sold.
Masthead seems like a nice studio, but they certainly haven't earned Fallout.
Sorry, this whole plan has sucked from day one and the best thing that can happen is Bethesda shuts down this halfassed attempt at a Fallout MMO.
I rather never see it than see it happen in a pisspoor moneygrab.

Actually you are wrong. Masthead Studios is not developing the game at all. Masthead Studios is providing the engine of which Interplay is using. The only thing Masthead Studios is doing from what I have heard is help interplay with using the engine and for support.
Interplay is still making the mechanics, lore, design and everything else besides the game engine.
So yeah...

Lol, so an interplay investor releases info that is "awesome news for interplay stock" and nobody thought it was fishy? Sounds like someone wants to unload their stock without losing too much money :p

Gamespot's reporting that MMO suit is still on, Bethesda merely stopped seeking an injunction against Interplay for continuing to sell older Fallout titles.

Bethseda saved Fallout from a negligent publisher. Anyone trying to say otherwise is delusional.
