My thoughts exactly! Funcom really seem to be trying hard to make AoC the juggernaut it should have been.

I just got AoC for $5 at Newegg, would be a good idea to snap it up :

i'll second that. i played shortly after launch and was intrigued, but not impressed. the game has come a long way. really digging the combat after too many years of auto-attack.

I just returned to AoC after quitting it 3 weeks into launch because of bugs crashing my cpu. I'm a low level , trying out different classes, but I'm loving this game so far! I can't wait to get out of Tortage, so I can explore the rest of the world.
I'll probably just buy the boxed x-pac for the nice goodies.

Having just subbed to Age of Conan, I can honestly say Im having a complete blast playing this game. I dont know what to expect, but Tortage is a really good time so far, and the combat feels extremely fluid and engaging.

Heres to being able to check out Khitan with my badass panther!

Well, there's timing. I just resubbed not two days ago. I blame the Anvil of Crom column. Enjoying it immensely.

no offense to the new guys saying they love the game now but can you get out of tortage first before commenting .... no one ever had a problem with that part of the game its how crappy it got as soon as you got out of tortage.

Been out of Tortage for quite some time now. Currently in my 40's. I think the game is great. Still having a blast. Truth be told, Tortage was fun at first but I got bored of being in the same area for so long, by about level 15 I was ready to get out.

I subbed not too long ago, and although I heard about all the mishaps of the official release I had not experienced them first hand. I had followed the games progression since then, as I do just about any MMO. I finally decided to give it a try a little while ago because of all the strides I had read that funcom had made.

So keeping that in mind, my experience now, with the current build of the game, is a good one. I would suggest those that just shout 'tortage nubs' everytime they here a new player enjoying the game to actually resub for themselves and discover if their experience with the game is any different.

Honestly, I'm not around for the long haul as I am playing AoC while I wait for the release of FFXIV and SWTOR but I feel the game really is decent and funcom deserves some credit for the strides they have made in improving upon the game.

This game needs more spell graphics.. on my necro i only have one spell that i can honestly say looks better than wow/warhammer... srsly... the terrain is awesome specially with the goodies in dx10, but OMG .. the spells.. THE SPELLS!!... its like they didnt have time to make them so they implemented the easiest thing that came to their mind. Conans spell graphics are more in line with runescape than wow.

This is a pure PR launch based on the fact that WOW open beta will start in end of May. Funcom do not care in what state this expansion will be - But we can be 100% serctain that is will be launching without much public testing. And even it has some testing... Funcom will not actually have time to fix ANY of the issues that might crop up.

And... Hello bluefunk - and the rest of Tortage nubs.

Wow - same person, same comment, every AoC article. Do you have alerts set or something? Do you work for WoW?

I'm waaaay out of Tortage at this point - resubbed because of what I read here - and the game is awesome. Probably the best MMO I've played in a while. I play on Cimmeria and the tension of open world PvP really adds to the experience. If you're new, do yourself a favor and try out a melee class. Normally in MMOs I'm a ranged class, but they really built a nice feeling combat system here. Also - find some peeps on your server, especially if it is a PvP server.

tldr - ignore the personal axe grinding here; in reality the graphics are tight, the combat is visceral, find some peeps.

And in realitiy the expansion will launch very much untested with probably no open test so get ready for massive PR campaign telling you how great things are.

I suggest everyone just wait and see. There is no reason to go running in and buying another untested software from Funcom. My advice is wait for 5-6 months and let them fix the issues that will come up.

I suggest you stop trolling. I, like many others will be picking up the expansion through a pre-order or on launch day.

I recently re-subbed to this game, which I wanted to like badly at launch. At least it succeeds like no other in capturing the kinkiness of classical pulp fantasy. And since Howard's Hyborian age maps neatly onto historical cultures, it's a setting that creates good opportunities for in-game roleplaying.

I was pleased to see that a good deal of content had been added; I left because the grind of getting to max level was rather daunting in the months after its release.

You'd think Conan slept with Deadalon's mom the way he trashes this game every chance he gets. It's good to see all the other open minded people here giving the game the props it deserves. I've been playing for a year and I dont think it's any more buggy than any other game. And i've been in the expansion beta for months and it's got a few kinks but also very solid. Looking forward to it!
