Actually Toby McGuire's (Spiderman fame) production company now owns the rights to produce a live action Robotech movie and is suppose to be doing just that, eventually.

That being said, I like the idea.

I wish Cryptic could take a look at the old pen and paper rpg game called Space:1889 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space:_1889 ) and create a mmo out of that amazing world.
From what I have experienced from their games so far their style would fit well.

ss I'm gonna have to be the first one to say it: give me a bona-fide triple-A console MMO.

I don't care about the IP, I don't care about the developer, and I don't really have a preference for which system it would go on, but I want it. In a perfect world, my computer would be for doing work, and my console would be for games; right now, MMO's are really the only thing holding me back.

Right now, an MMO isn't possible on a console. For one thing, we're too far into the life cycle, which besides limiting the time a game could be developed and maintained also means that console hardware is just too old at this point. My console of choice (the 360) is also terribly suited for an MMO. Pretty sure it doesn't have kb/m support, the hard drives are optional and generally too small, and getting even the smallest patch through Xbox Live is reportedly a soul-crushing affair. However, with increasing life cycles and internet connectivity rates shooting up every day, I think that by the time the next generation of console hardware rolls around, the stage will be set for a fantastic console MMO.

Make it so that you can choose between a kb/m and controller (and possibly chatpad). Make it so I don't have to worry about hardware (and, more importantly, so the graphics don't have to be scaled back to accommodate lower-end computers). Make it so the text is viewable from the comfort of my couch. Integrate it seamlessly into the online service of whatever console it's on. Don't dumb it down because you can't be creative enough to use the controller well, or you think console gamers are stupid (anyone who's played Warcraft knows that PC gamers can be just as bad, if not worse). Oh yeah, and most importantly, don't announce it and then postpone/cancel it like every other MMO said to be coming to consoles.

I think for a real, full-fledged MMO to crack the console market, a developer will have to rethink the entire structure of modern MMOs. A graphically updated Warcraft clone just won't fly, but that isn't a bad thing. As much as I like traditional MMO conventions like action bars, I've also always thought that they're a bit of an outdated carryover from older times when much of the rest of MMOs have evolved. A game like Borderlands shows that you can do levels, abilities, equipment, and skilltrees like an MMO on a console, sans action bars. The first MMO to really make a dent in the console market will be an evolution of what Gearbox did, with a persistent world, crafting, guilds, more varied abilities, quests, and equipment, and all the other things that make an MMO an MMO besides watching the buttons on your bar go from grayed out to full-color.

And no, I wasn't a big fan of FFXI, and am not really looking forward to XIV.

Considering the WB and Turbine merger, I think a Harry Potter MMO is more of a possibility now...

I'd like to see a game publisher capable of putting out a polished game, which a few of these studios are, put out are three particular pen-and-paper IPs that could be interesting:

- Deadlands (The Weird West; Expansions: Hell on Earth & Lost Colony)
- Call of Cthulu (I guess Secret World is fairly close on this style)
- Iron Kingdoms (An unusual take on steampunk fantasy)

Turbine, doing Asherons Call... something, I guess 3 wouldn't really work, but I'd like to revisit the AC lore.

Or Blizzard do a Sci-Fi MMO

Dune- sci fi
A cyber punk sci fi
A space sim with an avatar ground game with no loading screens-sci fi
Hidden Empire- sci fi
Dead Lands-steam punk MMO based on the RP game
The god engines- sci fi

I have to say I am tired of the cookie cutter MMO that take shortcuts and release terrible products.

If I could have any game I wanted right now, it would certainly be EVE online...except, the combat would actually be fun.

Now, this is of course a subjective point of view, but I have a bit of a problem with the tedium involved in merely activating turrets and watching the enemy get blasted to pieces. If one could find a game with all the depth of EVE, but expanded combat mechanics like Black Prophecy, and then add things that would REALLY rock like being able to leave your ship...board other peoples ships...explore planets.

Well, that would be fantastic. I loved EVE, but the prohibitive amount of time it took to get into combat with someone, and the somewhat dull combat mechanics, combined to make me not enjoy that game so much. It was deep, yes...but not really casual-friendly if you actually just wanted to jump into the game and have some fun PVP.

Then again, I dont pretend to believe that that is what CCP aims to be. Their game is complex...its a fantastic product. Im just talking about what I want.

Well, Bioware is already working on one of my dream MMOs (TOR). Once ME3 is done, an MMO in the Mass Effect Universe would be cool.

I would really like an MMO that combines TOR like story and ground play with Black Prophecy like space play. SWG is the closest thing out there, but they have never given the space game enough attention and their ground game was dessimated by the NGE.

I'm not interested in any fantasy games. I'm looking for a great Sci-Fi game. Played SWG for a couple of years. Played EVE, but its not for me. Played STO, but it didn't keep my interest.

I seen someone say CCP for Warhammer 40K, and I'm totally on board for that.

I would really like to see Blizzard/Activision create a Shadowrun MMO. I mean, c'mon, the character generator code is floating around on the interwebs out there, and that's something to build on.

Plus, you would have the guys from Activision (mainly Infinity Ward) working with the shooter aspect of the MMO, and Blizzard working on the MMO aspect.

I agree, Blizzard has no desire to rush a product and the best chances of any MMO being top quality will be if it comes out of that studio. One of those things you hate to admit, but know is true.

Warhammer 40k is up high on my list too, about tied with Starcraft. But nothing will compare with my desire to create a ninja in the Naruto universe. I just hope it's more like Shippuuden, which has more of an adult theme.

DARK AGE OF CAMELOT

At this point more IP's is like throwing sh*t at the wall to see what what sticks.

I'd also like to see a Heavy Gear MMO, I never played it much but I have a bunch of the books and it's really full of flavour.

However, I'd really like to see a Mutant Chronicles MMO, if anyone remembers that IP (the games, NOT the horrific movie). Science fiction meets survival horror, I can see it now. Garnering rep with the corporations, fighting the dark legion in some sort of Tabula Rasa/ME2 bastard born team-based combat and there's tonnes of scope for both PvE and PvP styles of gameplay. Yeah, I'd check that one out alright.

Another one I think would make an awesome MMORPG is one any Pen and Paper RPG'ers out there may be familiar with.

Palladium Games RIFTS setting.

The game has EPIC scope for an mmorpg as to what it could include, cover and expand within the bounds of the setting.

And Im fairly sure Kevin Sembeida would love the setting to get more attention from other mediums.

This setting will also be far more well know if Bruckheimer (i think) ever does anything with the movie rights for the setting.

I've actually spoken with Palladium games and they are open to a RIFTS® MMO. They're just looking for a studio and a deal.

I'd play that or Battletech in a heartbeat. =)
