I know the last EQ2 expansion wasn't too hot, perhaps he decided it was time to head to greener pastures.

Brenlo leaving is great news. As an EQ2 player from launch I've seen the game have it's ups and downs. It's gotten much better but it needs an Epic push in development and marketing. Brenlo just seemed too much the corporate drone and not enough the innovator. I hope that the new guy is more energetic, a better communicator and has more vision.

There always has to be one who has to be negative about a great producer who has done great things. This isn't Mark Jacobs or Brad McQuaid we are talking about. How about instead we commend him for his hard work at SOE, and wish him well in future endeavors? Yes, fresh blood never hurts to re-energize a product, but from what I know, "Brenlo" has always put his heart and soul into the games he has been part of, and deserves to go with a pat on his back, not a wish to let the door hit him on the way out. The amount of work to balance and create a game, and try to keep hundreds of thousands of players happy, has to be a huge challenge, and I thank him for his hard work.

I never got that feeling, Ive been listening to him in podcasts for "god only knows how long" and I really liked him. I always felt like he was really passionate about what he does.. well, did.

I wonder where he is going to and if he's going to maintain his community presence?

Sentinel's Fate has had huge issues with itemization. We've had resists on gear for 6 years. All of a sudden zero resists unless it's Fabled Raid gear. People were pissed and refused to upgrade. So they added some toned down resists to Legendary instance drops and "Mark" token gear. They took almost 4 extra months to put out the expansion yet it is universally viewed as light on content. 16 months for something that does not look enough to keep the player base going for a year. EQ2 is a solid game that needs more love. They keep trying to copy WOW to find success. Battlegrounds anyone? So excuse me "Dan" but have you been playing since the 1st week like I have? Zardoz 90 Defiler, 90 Provisioner, 225/250 AA here. Befallen Server. Who are you?

Look up some of the inside dirt on Brenlo at EQ2Flames "Dan". Brenlo is no one's Messiah. The term "corporate drone" is quite appropriate.

These are awfully uncertain times, economically, for so many known names to be leaving their employers. Is there a game developer on a recruiting spree that we don't know about?

I recognized EQ2 as a brilliant game but could just never really get into it, I wander if he'll end up working on Tera with everyone else.

I'm one of many on the official boards who will welcome this change. Indeed, quite a few have been openly calling for it.

As Dan said earlier, we mustn't be negative about a great producer who has done great things, but unfortunately Scott Hartsman left a long time ago and successive producers have been disappointingly weak in both their achievements with the game and their communication with the players. Brenlo presided over the EQ2 team during a period of decline in the game's development quality and sense of direction, with a number of content failures and delays, and whatever his previous successes may have been with SOE, and as I recall he was in both customer support and then game design, initially on EQ, they weren't during his final position as Producer on EQ2.

Nonetheless I wish Brenlo well in the future, and I hope that his successor turns out to be as influential in a positive way on the game's direction and development as Scott Hartsman was. The guys inbetween just didn't cut it I'm afraid.

Dave? Really? Well I killed my account after reading this, and will not be going back to eq2. This guy took one of my all time favorite games Tribes 2 and ruined it. Took the vision for Planetside and ruined it.

This guy is a disease to any game I like and because of that I won't stand around while I watch the only mmo on the market which deserves my money gives way to the ridiculous idea's this guy comes up with.

I canceled my two Everquest II subscription because the last expansion was horrible and not to my liking. As the saying goes, "the buck stops here." and the person at the top is ultimately responsible for the content in the game.

I found SF to have very little new content, horrible itemization, laggy servers, and poor solo content. That is just my take and my 30 bucks a month.

I think Brenlo was a great personality in Community Support but lacked real game development skills. I hope the next guy they bring in, brings back the fun I remembered from Kunark and before.
