Lore is a big part of the game for many MMO players. We like to know the backstory: why is this conflict happening? How did this world arrive at its current state? Who is this guy and why is it so important to him that I kill ten of whatever that creature over there is?
If you're one of the players who needs to know the why and how of it all, you're going to love the newest section on the Global Agenda site. Hi-Rez Studios has put together an amazingly comprehensive backstory for their game, and offered it up in several different formats. If you just need the highlights, check out the timelines, both pre-commonwealth and post-commonwealth. If you are more of an in-depth reader, you'll love the 124 pages of backstory available in PDF form. You can also listen to the full story in mp3 format.
This is a fascinating story for Global Agenda fans, delving into the world that they're so familiar with. Even if you're not currently playing the game, the full story is very well written and a good read for any fan of post-apocalyptic fiction. Head over to the Global Agenda site and check it out!

Too bad they don't have ANY of that lore in the game. Really, really sad since if they did it would be a little gem. As it is now it's just another shooter.

I couldn't agree more, lets fit that story INTO the game.

Call me crazy, but perhaps they should have found a way to focus on some sort of story INSIDE the game, since story seems to fly right out the window after you do that first tutorial mission.
Global Agenda for me has always felt like a mixed bag, I love the mechanics and the "feel" of the gameplay, but it really is nothing more than a glorified team deathmatch game with a few tacked on MMO elements and a need to grind a hell of a lot to get to the endgame. It jsut makes me long all that more for a proper sequel to Planetside/Tribes.

Maybe they released it because of the new open zone that is planned for release. So we will hopefully see more story in game!

I can't say I was particularly impressed by the background story and timeline.

I didn't read this, nor care to. I remember the tutorial mission though. You break out of some canister chamber, then fight through mobs to escape on a train, then some dude comes at you and says you must die. You kill him escape, then your in some random lobby with no entrance of exit with no explanation. lolwut?
Just come out and say "No story, it's just a game with tons of action, flying and jetpacks against other people. Simple as that.

One good thing about GA is the trial they give you. It allows you to discover that it is in fact not an MMO at all merely a fancy TF2. The first 13 levels are the dullest grindfest yet in any persistent game I have played. Oh yes and worse the docs are non-existent, with little or no help for a noob except for a fairly basic tutorial.
It has great gunplay and action, but the rest of it is just tacked on and lame. A fanboy actual told me that while the game is pretty dull, the agency vs agency stuff is great. So let me get this straight, you play $40 for a TF2 wannabe, and have to pay extra every month to make it all interesting. Are gamers actually that gullible?
