Ok so everyone knows that this will be a T rated game right?(lucas arts won't do M rated games) So while there will be romantic plots there won't be any of the beast with two backs. So at most we're talking about embrace or maybe "single kiss pan to sunset" type of interaction.

As for the argument about should romance plots be in the game, for what bioware wants to do absolutely. They have said many times that they want to provide great story telling and let's face it, romances make for good stories.

Should they have homosexual romances? I think so. Lucas said(well 1980's Lucas) "The best part about Star Wars(original trilogy) is that most everyone can see a bit of themselves in the main characters." So why would they exclude something that some people are. As for the "think of the children" defense, kids will naturally make the choice of what they like(kids are selfish like that). And guess what? If you have a 7 year old playing this game(which you shouldn't since it'll be rated teen -_-) they're probably gonna make the choice of "Ewwww they have cooties!"

As for the people saying "It'll take away from my type of gameplay!" The game won't be out for a year. How about we wait until the public testing is underway before we make those accusations.

But hey, it's ok I understand. I want this game to be out now just like everyone else, unfortunately none of us are in the possession of a DeLorean to change that.

Who said anything about discrimination?

I merely pointed my opinion of PC culture and that those who make great claims at diversity and tolerance are very intolerant to those that disagree with them.

You are proving my point. You have no idea what I personally believe, yet you claim my statements are ridiculous, claim that I want to discriminate in some way against people based on sexuality, race, etc and then it seems you want to equate those that may have some disagreement on whether a game should have gay romances to rapists and killers.

Way to show tolerance! Woot!

Even if my initial comment was entirely serious, I was merely stating that why should they allow all companion characters to be romanced by either gender since they may not be gay or bisexual. Considering that the characters have a backstory, sexual preference might be part of that. The midichlorian comment was goofy, purposely so and was more a slam on the midichlorians than anything else. If I am guilty of anything, I am guilty of making a very lame and very unfunny comment. But to you, tolerance of this viewpoint can be equated to tolerating rapists and killers.

I've read quite a bit of Star Wars content over the years, seen all the movies, blah blah. So far, I do not remember any homosexuality in any of the lore. Plain and simple, they're crow-barring it in because homosexual culture has to be crow-barred into every aspect of our world these days, or things get labeled as bigoted.

I have nothing against ANY gay people, male or female, but let's face it. Your culture is NOT mainstream. That isn't to say it's wrong, it just isn't mainstream. So please, stop thinking we need it forced upon us at every possible avenue. There is no precedent for homosexuality in the Star Wars universe, so we aren't even sure it exists in that galaxy far, far away.

If you didn't think C-3PO was gay, you're out of touch.

Sorry Tzeriel, you have to accept homosexuality as normal even though it is anatomically proven that it is not, in fact, 'normal' - as per the continuation of our species over the past few million years. Otherwise you're a "Biggot" as a certain sandwich would say.

Some people are so out of touch with reality that they think it fit to label anyone who disagrees with their radical views as "closed-minded", when in reality it is they who should perhaps better scrutinize whatever offerings they are given and subjecting them to logic before simply falling in line with an ideal.

Facetious humor aside, you resurrect a very legitimate point which I made somewhere back before the earl of Sandwich threw ad-hominem nonsense and wild assumption into the equation, which is that there is no precedent of homosexual relationships even existing within the Star Wars universe. Personally, I don't see it as fitting in with the vibe of Star Wars as a whole, because it was written and originally depicted in a time just before PMS and BPD became a widespread epidemic, and everyone felt the need to be so tragically and ineptly PC. Some idiots you just can't teach. I've found myself almost hoping that something terrible happens to the state of the world to break the complacency that has led these juvenile idiots to the extremes of boredom so as to create all of these ideals of perfect equality and similar Utopian bullshit.

Maybe in a decade or so when they've lived a little life, they'll realize how stupid they sounded in this thread. Probably not - humans are bad with realizing or accepting their own faults. Raised a yuppie, die a yuppie.

Yeah! Minorities should go away! I'm tired of dealing with any representation of a people who don't form at least 35% of the population!

Anyway, homosexuality isn't a culture.

I think I can vouch for Tzeriel as not being a biggot, as he and I roleplay together every weekend. :) Tzeriel is all about the lore.

@NeverDeath (and to some extent, Tzeriel)

No one has to accept homosexuality as "mainstream" much less as normal—you're more than welcome to stay as homophobic and/or insecure as you like. That's your cross to bear.

The only thing you have to accept is that your own irrational fears and prejudice don't entitle you to a louder voice than anyone else. That's it and that's all. No one is trying to "force" anything upon you.

Careful now. Since you don't agree with pc liberal orthodoxy, you are clearly as bad as rapists and killers. Diversity of thought is not allowed.

Haha Morioch. How right you are. At least there's someone else around here who isn't self-righteous and indulgent of circular reasoning.

Aw. Your theatrical attempts at intellectualism sure blew up in your face when you failed to spell a simple two-syllable word like 'bigot'! Enjoy your illiteracy!

If only all who opposed me so easily fell upon their own swords.

Seriously, what are we talking about here?

An mp3 of a voice actor saying "I love you" (which is gender-neutral anyway) and *maybe* a simulated peck on the cheek between two low-polygon, highly stylized cartoon characters... with lightsabers?

This has got the closet and not-so-closet homophobes all up in a tizzy?

And to add to injury, nobody can witness your personal romantic interactions! And you don't have to engage in any, if you don't want to.

It's absolutely terrifying. I certainly know I'm terrified of the possibility of someone, somewhere, doing things I don't know about and can't see, in a video game.
