In massively's defense they are not Journalists they are opinion bloggers and reporters of second hand news like news anchors not investigative reporters.Yes many of them are very pro-Cryptic but that is their opinion like it or not.

You're right, dude. Massively needs to start dog-piling scathing criticism upon small, independent studios like Cryptic... 'tll the only folks left producing video games are large, corporate juggernauts like Sony, Electronic Arts or Activision, with $100 million budgets.

Champions online sucks. Save your money or spend it on a better game. Let the bad companies go out of buisness and help the good ones flourish.

I played the game in closed beta, open beta, head-start and live for a month or two. I also tried the game again during their recent "free" weekend. As someone stuck in the doldrums of the mid 20s I didn't notice any improvement to the game over when I last played it in the fall.

During the beta and head start the game was fun but shallow. After the launch day patch the game was just shallow. They don't seem to have done anything to help bring back the fun. Sure, they've added a little bit of content, added one new power framework, reworked a few things that didn't work, and added the Vibora Bay zone. But that's it for six months of additional development?! Compared to how CoH progressed in it's first 6 months, CO is sorely lacking.

After playing for one evening of the free weekend I didn't bother to log in again. The combat is good, but not great. The PvP is frustrating unless you have a perfect build. The PvE is, for the most part, terrible. There are some really good PvE quests in the game where the developers got inventive, and I give them kudos for that, but the majority of the content is kill quests, kill/collect quests, or fetch quests. Blah.

As one of the old time MMO players I've seen them all at one point or another.

I wanted to really love CO. It was not the usual sword and sorcery MMO and the hope was that Cryptic would have learned the lessons from CoH and create a better game out of the box.

Then I played CO for about 4 months and the easiest summary I can give is that Cryptic is only good at creating mediocre games. Those games have things in them that are great, but the overall experience is so generic and so lacking in too many areas that it becomes disappointing for most players. I'm glad they released the new content recently, but even that whole situation was mishandled and I'm sure Cryptic did originally intend to charge for it.

Unfortunately Cryptic now also has Star Trek Online to destroy and I'm a huge Star Trek fan, but watching them push out their cookie cutter MMO style in a Star Trek theme is too disappointing to want to play. Cryptic knows how to quickly put out MMO's with a lower budget to increase profit and it shows in the lack of quality and similarity of the games they release.

I also somewhat agree with David's comment's. These news sites want to have good relations and not burn bridges with the MMO companies and games they are discussing, but most of these reviews or re-reviews, or whatever, of MMO's come across very sugarcoated instead of just saying it like it is. There needs to be some commentary that really holds these companies feet to the fire and that can still be done intelligently. If a MMO company doesn't like that then maybe they shouldn't put out sub-standard games.

Well this weekened simply proved to me that there has been no progress whatsoever in the areas this game most needed help. Of course that means if you loved it before its not surprising you still do, but if you didn't theres absolutely nothing that has been added that could change your mind.

Ironically the much applauded avatar customisation is still redered completely irrelevent by a gameworld can only respond in an identical linear manner no matter what you are, or aspire to be. Its like they created an invincible villain in the form of a world that completely nullifies any reason to exist!

The new content is literally the same repetitive and unimaginative drivel they delivered at the start, the zones are just as inorganic and relentlessly static as before, there is still zero immersion, zero involvement, zero reason to care or feel what you are doing is worthwhile or fun or even passably engaging.

Have they done a lot with the game...maybe...has it made any worthwhile difference, not that I can see and tbh they dont seem to be doing anything imaginitive or progressive that could change that.

I have both Champions Online and Star Trek Online, and I play plenty of other MMOs. Maybe it's the easier access to forums and communication, or maybe it's the more mainstream nature of gaming, but IMO the online/gaming community have gone to hell these past few years. This is what I have to say - ENOUGH!

Why all the open hostility towards the games and the devs? If you don't like the game, then don't play it - and if you are not playing the game actively, then don't log onto forums and sites and complain about it.

People need to learn to play the games for what they are. Enjoy the game you're playing for its features, its lore, its mechanics, or whatever. Play the game for its strengths, and support the devs, give them the time, feedback and resources and allow them to abolish the weaknesses and push out future content. And if you don't like the game, or think another game is better, don't troll the forums and websites (or heck even ingame chat channels) with negative comments - just don't play the game - it's that simple.

It's good there is some honest folks out there and people willing to speak up when players are being sold a rotten bill of goods - and forking out hard earned dollars for a game that will disappoint them.

It's unfortunate that gaming companies seem to be fighting back by attacking the players more and more - the love it or leave it attitude, and are unwilling to accept accurate criticism of their games by those who pay money for their games and play them.

It's almost as if gaming companies insist we their customers become an extension of their marketing department. And that websites such Massively should be nothing but marketing - so that their game will sell even more units.

Quality itself seems to go out the door - it seems to be bottom line, always about the money.

Oh lord they did try, didn't they.

Of course they were in such a hole to begin with that they had no choice. CO was maybe weeks away from DOOOOOOOM. They bought themselves a little more time with Revelation.

So, unless there's a Revelation-sized content patch this summer and again this fall, CoH Going Rogue is simply going to end CO for good.

Better get to work, Cryptic. I figure you've got a new 27-33 zone, a new 20-26 zone, and a new 14-20 zone to add before Going Rogue steals the rest of your playerbase.

I tried to like CO too but like most people have already pointed out, it felt way too generic. For a superhero game there was no great story or lore to go with it. I'm waiting for DCO and SWTOR, I know they'll get it right with those two.

All i can say about all of this is THIS! If you tried the game.. and it sucked utterly... and you left at level 20 not seeing any new content.. and are now bashing the product and people are calling you dumb cause you haven't seen what they've done I'd say too freaking bad. They dropped the ball and i will not be coming back to your crummy game.

I never got the appeal of super hero mmo's. guess its not my cup of tea!
