COO, CCO, CFO, CEO, CTO, CMO, CIO. All of them, confusing as hell.

Yeah, it sort of deflates the whole issue with this many stupid business acronyms floating around. Still, not hard to understand the implications.

Taking down STO? With his position now, he can bring it aaaaaaall down.

And I hope to god he does what all good captains do and drown in their own ship so they don't ruin another one.

I've heard a lot of people say how much they love STO, and the reasons people have given for not liking STO are pretty stupid and immature, which leads me to believe that 80-90% of those people are simply biased against Cryptic Studios for very petty reasons.

And then we have Champions. Why is it that when a game does poorly at launch, everyone wants it to die, no matter how many people love the game? It's so annoying. If you don't like a game, that's fine, but if there is a playerbase, no matter how small, it probably means that the game just isn't for you, not that its a "sinking ship".

Pressing a reply button on a Mr Angry post ensure you get both a response from me, and so questions back for you!

People don't like STO because it's an unfinished mess and an IP that people have loved for many years hyped to the max, that's not immature, it's a sad fact, acknowledged by many people who have responded to this story.

To subscribe to an unfinished game, or even being asked to pay a lifetime subscription which was limited to before launch, is stupid, and again, that's fact too as people are unhappy with the game after investing upwards of $200 on something they feel is not fun with no assurances as to how things will get better.

The people who do not like STO for the above reasons are therefore neither stupid or immature, they are unhappy customers. The people who defend a poor game ARE stupid or have a vested interested in said company, have too much money or secretly wish that these games were perfect, but until then offering unwavering support will allow others to get on board with their ideas, and potentially even turn things around, right?

No one wants these game to die, they want them done right. They want to pay their subscriptions so things move in the right directions.

I appreciate games like Free Realms or Final Fantasy are not games for me and therefore are NOT sinking ships, just not to my taste.

Games such as STO or CO, which have an amazing lack of content, questionable business models, unfinished game-play mechanics and poor community relations, are on borrowed time and stretch the patience of even the most loyal customer.

A poor quality game is a poor quality game, and if Cryptic persist in this approach, then eventually enough people will get their fingers burnt, abandon ship, then with no one to keep the boat on course, it's demise is inevitable...

So your homework :

If you quote percentages, could you supply your source for these figures please? I contest the 80%-90% figure you have quoted just based on anecdotal evidence of people posting replies to this story, what is your source?

A very small community is not enough to ensure a game can grow or maintain even the hardware. How do you suggest a very bad game with few players, no income coming in can keep going without subscription revenue?

There are more important people to hate in the world (particularly in the US Government) than these guys. Seriously, get on with your lives. Every single article that even mentions either Bill Roper or Jack Emmert you can count on numerous nerd posts of rage.

Oh no.

And here I was recently thinking that the news of Roper's departure from his previous position was 'good news'.

Instead now, whatever ideas Shannon Posniewski (and Zinca-whatsisname from STO) have will need to make it through Roper, being the most senior creative in the company.

Here's my prediction of the interview:
It'll be nothing more than a PR exercise with vague answers and BS spin, as usual.

I was genuinely excited at the original news of Roper moving away (so I thought) from their properties. Now it's even worse than before.

And here I thought promotions were supposed to be a result of success, but reality is showing that being in charge of a train wreck (Hellgate: London) or lackluster performances (Champions) will get you promoted to Chief Creative Officer!

Darn, I need to stop trying to do well and start screwing projects over more!

OMFG, when is this soap opera going to be over.

If this isn't a F*** you to the players who have expressed
their dissatisfaction about the games I don't know what is.

Jack Emmert and Roper really need to take long vacation
to Hellgate London.

To add, that Massively continues to carry a torch for a
dysfunctional company.
