Using your logic: monthly fee+cash shop=FAIL=World of Warcraft trying to stay above water. Wow indeed.

So, if one company doesn't have 10 million subscriber it's a failure...

@ Servantes

I think it's hillarious you keep trying to defend the cash shops and that you even put Blizzard and Cryptic in the same sentence lol. Blizzard does so much more for their customers it's absurd. Have you ever heard of Blizzard pumping up their FREE CONTENT?? No you have not. No why? Because they just give their content to their players and use expansions to make the extra dollars. But please, by all means, go into the STO cash shop and spend a way so this model can gain more traction in the industry /sigh

I have to point out that "fluff" has been part of MMO's for a very long time and plenty of players have spent long hours just to get this "fluff" that doesn't effect gameplay in any way. The cash shop model undercuts the in-game perceived value of these kinds of items and therefore damages part of what used to be a fundamental part of MMO's. IMO it's a shady marketing scheme any way you look at it.

I have to say, despite the hate for cryptic and STO, its a fun game, and I'm enjoying playing it. I don't really dig the cash shop, so I don't buy from it. I've been having a blast.

Cryptic delivers a patch, more content, more fixes, server was up at least as far as I could tell, and no queues. I'm certainly not utterly enamored with the game--it has its flaws. But lord knows, everything does, and until I stop having fun, I'll play.

Season One was a good patch. It was decidedly heavier on fixes than content but it was a good sign that bigger and better things are ahead.

The biggest bullet point was the Respec tool. FINALLY I was able to go back and rearrange my haphazard point distribution. A free respec token for every rank and the option to buy one with in-game merits made for a great addition.

I'm glad to finally be able to do some exploration missions with my Klingon faction toon (much faster way to level than pvp). I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever see my bridge officers in person. Also it's hilarious to blow up piles of tribbles after petting one of my own, you know, for morale.

I'm enjoying STO and I definitely approve of the Season One patch.
