Yes lots of new content, most of it free, for which i am gratefull, but still the one thing that isnt available and needs to be is more PvE content in the form of playable factions Klingon, Romulons ect...

Much as i love the game, the fact remains that once you have played through a federation character there really isnt all that much left to do. In any other MMO you would make a new toon, try a differant race/class and hopefully story arc. Not so in STO. Races make minimal difference, and though selecting science, tactical or engineering does effect your proficiancies, not in such a profound way that it makes all that much difference.

It is great that they are adding more stuff, it's good they are learning -painfully slowly- to develop some comunity relationships but still the game lacks depth, with just one playable PvE faction this wont change till they add more which they have said they will do, but it cant be soon enough.

"Incoming Hail, Captain. It's from the Cryptic Hater Consortium."

"Put them on screen Number One ... errr ... On second thought, we know what they are going to say. Belay that order. Let's move on."

PS: Not aimed at you Bezza. I agree with your points. Aimed more at the expected "usual suspects" that should turn up soon.

I love how this is a subscription game, and yet new content is always labeled as "free".

The fact that these games require NORMAL content to be listed as "free" just makes me cringe. I hope fervently that this does not become the industry norm for MMO's. Needless to say, in ends to that hope, I shall not be supporting any sub game where the term "free content" is thrown around. Except at the same time I think what DDO did was good : ( DDO, you're my exception.

Free content expansion as opposed to paid expansion? Most games refer to content expansions as "free".

You guys need to listen to the Jack Emmett interview on Big Freaking Podcast. I know you won't, but you really should.

@Lichbane

So. If anyone is still unhappy with Cryptic, they are haters? If they aren't happy with the "free" content that arguably should have been part of the release, then they are haters?

Lich, yours is the mindset business people love.

I am happy to see that Cryptic has added the content, but one patch does not resolve the issues nor allow for forgiveness for the many past transgressions.

Perhaps they should have waited longer to give you everything at once all in one patch?

No they should have held off the launch until they had a full game instead of releasing something that was half finished and hope to patch in everything else later.

I pre-ordered STO and was happy enough to get 40-60 hours out of it minimum (about 4-6 times what you can expect from most modern single player games) but there was no where near enough content for any but the most casual of the casual MMO players.

There was a reason Cryptic did the survey and started offering massive discounts and enticements. All MMO's grow up into their design goal, but losing most of your subscribers in the first few months is a really bad business model ... which Cryptic have managed to do twice.

Oh and before the PR brigade go "RAR RAR ELITISTS!!!" I am currently playing DDO because my play time is so limited I can't justify a subscription. Even if I could I wouldn't give it to a game which I needed to bug to play properly (setting all weapons on autofire) and in which it was obvious the devs had lost their clarity of design (suddenly putting in skill caps leaving the skill trees horribly mangled).

Cryptic should get out of the subscription MMO market because what they make isn't worth subscribing to (but is a lot better than most of the trash in the freemium market).

Yes, yes. We're all upset the game wasn't launched in a better quality. But that ship has sailed and they are trying to improve it. I don't see how anyone can complain about them giving the things ppl have been asking for and trying to make improvements.

As an aside, it's currently on special @ Steam:

Although, my recommendation is to instead grab Torchlight while it's $5:

So the 'big patch' boils down to a couple more repetitive same-same missions built on one of the 6 existing templates, a couple of fleet actions which will probably bug out like all the rest currently in game and a whole bunch of useless non-game crap? Oh and a new ship for the Klingons. Wow.

Good to see Cryptic are true to form. Why bother fixing the game when you can add 'exclusive; chat channels and areas for lifetime subs to hang out...

But hey, Fanbois will cheer for it like its awesomely groundbreaking HUZZAH!!
