Oh, lovely Springtime! With sunny days and balmy nights, what's not to love. That is, unless, you're stuck in a place where there is no lovely weather to enjoy. In those cases, you can rely on a game like Lord of the Rings Online to give you beautiful, sunny vistas to enjoy adventuring in when the real weather isn't quite as nice.
Today's glorious Lord of the Rings Online One Shots comes to us from Diavir, who is new in the lands of Middle-earth. He found a lovely view while out wandering the world, and sent it to us, noting: "I just recently bought Lord of the Rings Online and I've been leveling in Evendim. I can't get over how good this game looks. It's amazing how well they have translated the franchise into a great MMO."
Are you checking out a game for the first time recently? From old to new, we love to see (and read about) what you're doing! Just email your images to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a description of what we're seeing. (Guild, server, or other information like that is welcome too.) Please make sure it's at least 1024px wide, and please turn off the game UI. We'll post it out here and give you the credit!

That's my favorite fishing spot. Its right before you get to some bandit camps and the land there is shallow for a surprisingly long stretch before dropping way deep into the lake.

I have tried to play this game twice now. It isn't terrible looking but it looks nowhere near as good as the screenshots.
I've got a GTX 275 which, sure isn't the hottest right now but it isn't too shabby either. Plays everything I throw at it..even the newest stuff like Metro 2033 and BFBC2 on the highest settings.
In the tutorial I get a clown suit looking set of gear which I'm not to concerned with since I am sure it gets replaced in moments... but it isn't the color or the design that bothers me but the fact that the texture looks really low-resolution.
I ran through a field of flowers that looked nice but otherwise it was pretty bland.
The characters all have super huge feet as well.
The graphics aren't the only thing I care about in a game, but LOTRO also suffers from not showing me anything I haven't seen before in the first few moments of play. I like to be wowed from the start not have promises that it gets better... those hardly ever pan out.
I've heard enough good about the game though to just consider it not my kind of game. Glad others enjoy it and I wish I could since I love the universe with a passion bordering on obsession... but eh... I'll keep myself happy with Eve and Fallen Earth.

I don't think this is going to work..
Tried to reply to a reply and..
Anyway.. yeah downloaded the High Res client and trying it again. The email I got for the trial invite didn't mention it at all. Just "click here to download the client" and so I did.
I'll give it another shot.

It makes me happy to see all the nice One Shots that people send in and know that I have also sent in pictures that are apparently as good these.

Disregard my previous comment. Still the fact that after two downloads myself, and 1 each for my two roommates ...they could make the fact that there is a high res client more apparent.
I downloaded it from an email which sends you to a site that doesn't mention client versions at all.
I'll give it one more try.

Try that link for the hi-res version of LotRO. I play DX10 (hi-res) version and it's simply a stunning visual tour.
Have fun!

Quick tip - you have actually enable the High Res Direct X 10 settings? When you install the High Res client you will notice an extra level in the textures option. For the record, my GTX 260 makes the game look exactly like the image posted in this article. The game is visually stunning still, several years after release.
