Still pretty excited for this, I do like that they seem to be going with fewer more unique classes, rather than the plethora of jobs that more or less did the same thing in XI.

Seems that way. 7 main jobs right now (then 10 crafting jobs). 5 melee type classes and 2 casters. I'm wondering if they plan on adding more at this point...

I like the smaller set of classes for the most part, but I could stand 1 or 2 more casters really, always a caster guy at heart.

The site was updated... Look in the Disciplines section. Only two caster "classes" set so far. Hopefully we will see at least another 2-3 before the game gets a release.

The two here are just not enough to maintain a group with given the abilities shown and quite honestly, not enough caster types to make a lot of the old school magic user mmo players happy. The classes are a pretty far cry from what the traditional FFXI or even tradition FF roles have always been. I like them but I still want my tradition somewhere. Give me my pure White Mage and my pure Black Mage class in addition to the Scholar/Shaman hybrid and the Dark Knight/Shadow Priest hybrid.

Toss in that a lot of us former 6+ year XI players are expecting some system of "subjob" advancement that has here-to-fore not been discussed. I can't wait for April 1st to see whats what. (If I manage to get a beta/alpha invite). So much to see and do.

I really wished they had different races instead of just changing the names of them... owell... looks promising

I agree with this, that's really bugged me so far. Won't keep me from playing, but bugs me, just like not being able to jump in the game bugs me.

Well wouldn't they only be slight variations of humanoid creatures anyway...? I personally would like them all just humans, but that's just me! They have a few new races as well I believe.

Theres plenty of other races they coulda used in the FF universe honestly that would a been awesome.. recycling the old races is kinda of a downer since it shows a lack of imagination or something that shows that this is going to be different from the other FF mmo. In the end it really doesn't matter since game play will be the defining judge even if it does look like FF-11 2.0.

@Jersey
I really wish they had male/female counterparts of the old single sex races. I like the fact they have the old races.

I am so excited for this game, I would say much more than SWTOR but maybe that's because SWTOR isn't coming out till next year.

I was happy about this game until I realized, I had an over all bad time with FFXI and; the only time Square Enix wants to give anything to PC gamers is a pay to play (like that sorry Final Fantasy XI). I might pass on this game altogether.

You seem to be forgetting The Last Remnant was released for pc and was the best version out of the 3.
FF7 and 8 were also ported to the PC

im chucking all my eggs into this basket!

The new Star Wars game will suck due to that poor Mass Effect chat style interface due to EA.

So, Square your my best, last, hope for peace!

I guess it's a good thing Bioware has plenty of time to pretty up the chat interface for you seeing how their MMO won't be out until Spring 2011 at the earliest.

I remember when I used to get my hopes up for MMOs... oh the memories.

*glares at boxes of Warhammer Online and Age of Conan*

*sigh*
